My thought exactly. Inge, like Higgy, tried to become what a very large portion of the Tiger fans wanted him to be but was physically incapable of being. Higgy and Inge at different times became the face of the franchise. That should tell those who weren't around in those days what lean times those indeed were.

Higgy went out with class despite most of the fan base turning on him like rabid dogs. Inge has seemingly learned somehow to keep his fat trap shut and it's going to help whitewash his aural ineptitudes a little quicker so that his legacy in Detroit will not be further tarnished.

Inge suffered from grilli syndrome, where the fans completely turned on him. At that point, it's difficult to try to make it work.

They didn't need to release him from a roster standpoint, though, so it kind of sucks to see that he is having success, because this is what I thought he could do this season but he's doing it for someone else.

Given what has happened to second base, I wonder if things may be better if we had kept him and let him take over second when raburn started struggling.
Ajax is only the third most valuable tiger.

I agree and I tend to believe he could have been our best option at 2nd, all hindsight now of course.

That is the key for me - he wasn't playing is normal position in Detroit and IS in Oakland - so Inge should be marginally more "Inge-like"

Pretty small sample at 2b. Seriously, the guy adapted to some very difficult positions, Catcher and C.F. very well!

That's true, but he did that when he was younger and had better knees. How long should they have waited to see if he could adapt? It's not like they could carry him for his bat while he learned a new position?

Can we kill this thread? Just asking...2 months later. Or do we have to get hit in the face with BInge talk everytime he hits a HR or makes a good defensive play at thiird?

It's going to become a yearly tradition, the Tigers will send a controversial player to the A's for nothing and then they'll have a good season. I smell a 25 homer season at the Coliseum for one Brennan Boesch in 2013

I don't know why we would kill the thread. It isn't as if this board routinely lets old threads die.

Besides, I think there is some good discussion going on and I don't think anyone is being hit in the face. FWIW.

For 2013, am I the only one who wants Inge to get a minor league contract with a invite to spring training for the Tigers just so we can cut him again.....?

If Inge gets resigned and Cabrera does get injured for 2013, I can't wait to see Inge's face the day before the end of spring training when Inge finds out through the Detroit News that the Tigers traded Niuman Romero for Evan Longoria to play 3B instead.

I would assume that Inge back to Detroit is less than 99.99999% for his lifetime, including if he's ever hanging out with Nixon's head in a tank when he's visiting with Bender and the Gang.

I agree with you, it would be a lot like the the "not a chance" that the Tigers politely extended to Jeremy Bonderman when he announced he wanted to make a comback.

Bondo is going to come back next year and go 30-0 with a 0.38 ERA due to his new bionic elbow. The only earned runs will be caused by Delmon Young, Ryan Raburn, and Brennan Boesch misplays in the field

They have tried to upgrade at third, where Brandon Inge is now in an 8-for-58 slump that includes 21 strikeouts and one walk.
Relatively speaking, that's not a slump for Brandon.

You can ignore the thread. Today is the first time I've opened it since probably a week after he was traded.

Just noticed that post was about a month ago. Apparently you are doing the same thing.
