Default How many games will the the Tigers win in the 2012 Regular Season?

If no one else is going to do this, I will. The prize for predicting the number of Tiger wins for the 2012 regular season is the understanding that you are the most astute poster among your peers in this regard; as well as a certificate of achievement from me. If there's a tie, you share the honor of being the most astute posters among your peers; as well as a certificate of achievement from me (for however many of you have tied).

I know, "Too good to be true!" you say, but yes, that is what you get.

Guesses are OK, which is what I'll probably do, but if you want to think about it intelligently and show your work that would be great. (And I might even print out your certificate on resume paper using a fancy font if you appear to have thought more deeply about this question than those with whom you are tied).

    Verlander should win 18
    Fister will win 15
    Porcello will notch 12 wins
    Scherzer another dozen wins.

The bullpen is good but Pape Grande will blow a couple.

81 wins is cake in this weak division.
Last year we won 95 and most of that came after Delmon and Fister joined the club and the 12 game win streak.

With that said I think the defense will have holes.
100 wins is possible based on the 6-1 Spring thus far.
But lack of speed will also hurt us.

I am going to hang a number out there...last year they won 95.
I think the Tigers will fall just shy... I will hang 99 wins on them.

    102. I think having only two west coast trips this season is gonna help. Last year the Tigers had to make four west coast trips.

Well now that this contest has rewards I'll be a tad more realistic and say 108 wins.

You think both Cleveland and KC win 89 games? Thats a tough division.

I think it will take 84 or 85 to win the division outright so Ill go with 86+.
