Thanks for some great years, Maggs and Carlos!
From here:
Five players who won't be in a Tigers uniform | Detroit Free Press | freep.com
Magglio Ordoņez
The Opening Day rightfielder the past seven years wasn't re-signed this off-season after two injury-plagued years. The Tigers took a chance on Ordoņez in 2005 when he was coming off a knee injury with the White Sox, and he rewarded the club with a .312 average, 107 homers, 533 RBIs, two All-Star appearances, a batting title and an ALCS-winning homer.
Carlos Guillen
He was acquired from the Mariners in 2004 and became the Tigers' starting shortstop. Guillen also played leftfield, third base, first base and second base, batting .297 with 95 homers and 449 RBIs in Detroit and making two All-Star teams. Injuries limited him the past several years. Guillen signed a minor-league deal with Seattle.
These two guys were key in making the Tigers relevant to the sport again. Just wanted to express my appreciation for it.

Yes, they were. I want to express my appreciation to DD and Illitch for making it happen.

Kinda sad, I suppose, that their Tiger careers ended with whimpers instead of bangs, but that's how it goes sometimes. I agree that they'll always be remembered for being a big part of the franchise's turnaround. Perhaps each will be invited back to throw out a ceremonial first pitch during a future playoff series at Comerica Park.

Really enjoyed watching a couple of real pros that did the Tigers proud. Best wishes to both.

These two signings couldn't have turned out much better for the Tigers. Magglio cemented himself with this team and city with one swing of the bat and everyone will always love him for that moment. Being there live just made it all the more better. Won a batting title and if not for A-Rod having his last monster year, would have won the AL MVP in 2007. Found his swing again and really carried the team towards the end of 09. Wish he wouldn't have been hurt the last couple of years as he was still swinging the bat well but age finally seemed to be catching up to him. Always will be grateful for his contributions to the organization.
Guillen was also great to have and helped to get things turned around with Maggs. Had a lot of big hits in the playoffs in 06 and over the course of his time here. As rediculous as it was, everyone will remember him staring down Weaver last year with that monster home run which was a fun moment. Sad that injuries really hampered him as he was a very good hitter.2011 AAL: Corey Williams 2012 AAT: Head Athletic Trainer Kevin Rand

Yes, too bad about that last Guillen contract. They signed him with the idea that he'd be playing first, without knowing that Cabrera was going to be available. But like Davidsb says, there will always be that glorious Weaver moment. The only way that he could have improved on it would have been to be wearing a dress and high heels at the time, but it was pretty spectacular.

Actually I think the Guillen deal was signed in sppring of 2007. They announced it the same day as Rogers saying he was going to have surgery

I remember that walk off in the rain in 2006. We were standing in that gap area between the 200 and 300 level seats where you can watch.
I had tickets to the 3:30 am game but we had to leave during the delay because my wife had to work in the morning. Was tempted to go back down when the game resumed as I did get my ticket scanned on the way out but since she was working I wasn't sure how I would function the next day being on solo parent duty..

I was at both the 3:30 AM Home Run game and the September '06 walkoff game. I wasn't at the Jered Weaver game, though I remember where I was at the time: Driving back to Michigan from a weekend in Milwaukee.
Carlos Guillen is my favorite Tigers player of my adult life. It didn't end well here but I'm pleased with what he brought to the team for about five years. When he was on the field he was basically their best hitter from the time he was acquired to the time that Cabrera was acquired. Lots of guys had better single seasons (Rodriguez 2004, Polanco 2007, Ordonez 2007), but from 04-07 Carlos was consistently very good every year, better than any of those guys for the totality of that four year span.
What I'll probably remember the most about Guillen though, more than the injuries, more than those two walk off games, more than the Weaver moment, even more than being such a great hitter for most of his time here: The fact that he hit over .400 with the bases loaded during his time with the Tigers. That's one of those statistics that don't mean anything when predicting the future, but it means a lot when looking at the past. It seemed like whenever there was a big inning, Carlos was either starting it with an 8 pitch walk, or blowing it up with a bases loaded drive. That's what I'll remember the most about Carlos Guillen.Tigers record when in attendance: 2012: 2-1 W1 Home: 1-1, Away 1-0
Tigers record when in attendance: 2011: 6-7 L5 Home: 4-5, Away 2-1, Playoffs Home: 0-1
