WE HAVE NO RELIEF PITCHERS VALVERDE IS OVERATED PEOPLE.
I just wanna say that we have no relief pitchers except Al Alberque and Joquian Benoit. Jose Valverde is not good sure you can say he had 43 consecutive saves but did you watch those 43 consecutive games he pitched we would have say a 10-0 lead and he comes in and he brings up the score to 10-9 and he still gets the save. I think we should go out and get a solid relief pitcher.

Anyone who thinks a save is awarded in a 10-0 game doesn't know much about baseball.
So his/her insults of Valverde are pointless.
Think it's Grapes? Just about the same grammar, or lack of.2012 AAT: Brennan Smith

Listen up folks, we lack effective relief pitchers and it is my belief that Jose Valverde is overated.
That may have been a clearer way of stating that. If you don't take the time to clearly express yourself, you will be ignored unless you are warning everyone there is a fire and the flames are licking your heels.Last edited by ROMAD1; 02-12-2012 at 12:38 PM.

"VALVERDE IS OVERATED (sic)" is an opinion. You're welcome to that but you don't need to shout.
"WE HAVE NO RELIEF PITCHERS" is demonstrably false.Bruce

Dotel and Coke are decent, our bullpen will be above average hopefully. We saw what happened in the playoffs last year and we've only added 1 new guy. This team still has several lingering concerns but no concern is greater for me than.. how will I afford WS tickets?

I think this is that goofy guy from Valencia that was posting during the game threads last season.
The insane headlines are a dead giveaway.

I do expect Valverde to regress at a frustrating level this season. He got bailed out a lot last year.

Yes, there were several games he could have blown. But 49 save situations? It's pretty normal to blow a few. But somehow he didn't. I think the closest he came to blowing one was the game where AJax threw out a runner at home.
My biggest complaint about him is his deliberate (slow) pitching. He tends to build the tension to an unbearable level.2012 AAT: Brennan Smith

THIS IS A WARNING: Your posts seem purposely calculated to get a rise out of people. All caps? Really? Poor capitalization skills? Really? Misspellings. Really? Playing the "aw shucks, I just want to talk baseball" thing. Really? If this is all on purpose then you're a troll. If you can't help posting like this because you don't know any better we are not interested in holding your hand. We have better things to do.
We have seen this a lot. We know what it is when we see it. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck and looks like a duck, chances are it's a duck. They way you comport yourself immediately after this post will indicate whether you will have any future on this board."If you want a guarantee, buy a toaster."--Clint Eastwood

DetroitTigersRule, on second thought, this is such an obvious effort at trolling--a textbook example on what buttons to push to get a rise from people with all CAPs, misspellings, run-on sentences, feeble apologies about just wanting to talk Tigers baseball--that I am banning you right now.

In light of how good the back end of the BP was last year...it makes 2008's awful BP seem like a really bad dream.

Wow. Well done, Bert. That was quick, but well deserved. My 100 post over/under was way off.

I think I read for about a year before I started my first thread. I still don't start many, only if it's something important and isn't already reported. Maybe there should be a 10 day waiting period for new members to even be allowed to start a thread?
But Grapes was an impostor? That ruins my entire day. All this time, I thought I was actually smarter than someone else.
I mean, my heavy, misplaced comma use, bad grammar, misspellings, run on sentences and random thoughts are just an attempt to lighten things up, not a sign of stupidity.2012 AAT: Brennan Smith

When we encounter a poster who is so off base, with no communication skills who jumps in with both feet, I worry she/he has a learning disability. Then I feel guilty for jumping on a handicapped person.

You could do a lot worse than Valverde, Benoit, Dotel, Coke, and Al Al as your top 5 bullpen guys. Duane Below did a pretty decent job and could also be a plus reliever and spot starter. And it isn't a huge stretch to think Schlereth could turn into a decent pitcher, not great but decent. Villarreal has potential.
Al Al is the key, I think. If he can come back healthy and everyone else pitches up to reasonable expectations this could be a top notch bullpen.
