Where Do You Like To Sit @ Comerica Park ? ( General Info etc )
Hey guys,
Going to be coming over to Detroit in early July, and I've managed to time it so I can catch 1-2 Tigers games. Just wondering, where do you guys like to sit when you go to Comerica ? Any different atmospheres/cross sections of the demographic prevalent in certain parts of the ground ? Any view that you like the best ?
Also, how often do games sell out, and if they do, whats the best place to buy 2 tickets in advance for someone coming over from Scotland ?
Sorry for so many questions, I'm just very interested in any stories, details, that flesh out the character and personality of the ground, and certain sections.
Thanks in advance

I really like sitting up high right behind home plate in the uppermost deck - nice angle and if far back enough you are sheltered.
Really enjoy strolling around the concourse and people watching. Ice cream in the carosel court is tasty.
We also try to spend some time in Greektown, and fill up at a Greek diner before walking over to the ballpark.Last edited by DaYooperASBDT; 02-10-2012 at 02:14 PM.

StubHub is the place I always get tickets from. You can just print them out yourself after you made the purchase.
As for seats? My favorite section is upper-deck, along 1st base. Great view of the entire field and Tigers dug-out.
Least favorite? LF during a night game, especially in July. Directly in the sun until it goes down.
But if it's your first time down there, you should get there early and walk around. There's a ton of things to see!2012 AAT: Brennan Smith

Yeah, LF in the evening is horrid...
Also the upper deck (IMHO) is too far away...
For as few games as I attend, I try to pay premium for seats behind home plate usu. within 20 rows of the field. I try to avoid the dugout areas because you get mashed by autograph-seekers before/after the game.
There really isn't anyplace that I connect with at Comerica, it's a nice place, but pretty bland IMHO.

I like sitting behind the third base (Tigers) dugout. I usually get my tickets off Stubhub. They're expensive, but I usually just get those for special occasions, like Opening Day, special games, or playoffs.

Well, some of you are more wealthy than I lol. Somebody I'll splurge for Tiger Den.
Have only had "box" seats twice, one time was for that painful final Sept. 30th game of 2006,
when Zach Miner couldn't hit the broad side of a barn vs. the Royals, costing us the division.
Ah, memories!

Upper Box RF if you can get 216-218. Good view of everything and the scoreboard is directly in front of you. They're also, in my opinion, the best value in the park. I also like Upper Infield 321-326ish, a little higher than the 200 level, but still great views.
Like SF said, StubHub is a good place to get tickets. For non-weekend or big opponent games tickets can be had for face or less and they're guaranteed to be good because StubHub and MLB are official partners.
Do you know the dates you might go to games?Last edited by dadair6; 02-10-2012 at 05:09 PM.

Hey guys thanks for all the replies.
I'm going to be in Detroit from Wednesday 4th July to Monday 9th July. I'm going to aim for the Twins game on the evening of the Wednesday, or the daytime game on the Thursday. I'm extremely well versed in knowledge about Detroit, as much as you can be without ever having been, so got a lot of other stuff sorted ( staying in Greektown Casino Hotel, got a list of about 10-15 dive bars I wanna check out like Baltimore/Shileligh/Detroiter/The Post etc etc, Slows, Coach Insignia, Belle Isle, going to drive around some nice areas like Palmer Woods, maybe visit Royal Oak for some partying, go to some museums, check out Michigan station, know which areas to avoid like the plague etc etc ).
Originally wanted to come in May so could go to a Wings game as well as Tigers, but didn't work out unfortunately.
Whats the Pepsi Porch all about, is it like a terrace where you buy a ticket for and can chill and watch the game, or just a concourse area that you can go to ?
Very excited about coming, wish it wasn't so far away. Also wish there was a time of year where i could go see a Lions game, Tigers game and Wings game on the same trip haha !

I love sitting in the first row behind the bullpens. I love watching the interaction between the pitches and the coaches there and with the fans before the game. Pretty good fun-loving atmosphere there. And I'll never forget someone yelling at John Bale (WANT A BEER!?) while he was warming up and Bale turning around going "I'm gonna need one after this." and getting called in to the game.

I sat first base side on the infield once and left field by the bricks once. The game I was on the infield for was CC/Verlander in May 2010 with Boesch and Cabrera going back to back. The left field game was Andy Oliver allowing 4 Red Sox steals in one inning. I prefer the infield.

If I go with a date I like to sit in the area that has the nice padded seats. If I just go with my friends we just get standing room tickets and stand up in the Pepsi porch area. It's nice up there you can still see the game really well. Then you have a bar right up there and the team shop is right up there as well. So if its a really hot night go in there and cool off quickly and go back out.

I usually sit in Upper box infield seats or Upper reserved or Mezzanine seats. I prefer Upper box infield seats good value for the price I think. I have sat right down front almost behind home plate once, we were right at the end of the dugout by the plate. That was really cool. We got the tickets for a weekday game, late in the season after the Tigers were out. They were only 45 dollars I believe.

The part I like is that you can circumnavigate the stadium during the game. Avoid LF grandstands during twilight hours...they really should have done something about the sun there. Not sure what though. When the place is jumping...its a fun place to be. In past years 2000-2005 it was sort of lifeless. Now, its the swirling heart of a city/state and fan nation.

To me the best value seating is the mezzanine section. As a result I sit there the most. They're neither the best seats in the park nor the cheapest, but I think they strike the best balance of dollars and seating. With unlimited dollars I prefer sitting in the on deck circle seating, behind the Tigers dugout. To me the worst section of the park is the pavilion. In general I dislike sitting in fair territory in the outfield at baseball parks, and that it's directly under the big scoreboard is also a negative to me. Of course, it's all relative. Pavilion seating at Comerica Park >>>>>> LF Grandstand at New Yankee Stadium, for instance, which is at least 4,000 feet in the air.

I like section 212 or 213 just above the aisle way. Sat there for the Cleveland series where AJax made that great throw to end the game. My Wife and I usually sit in Kaline's Corner cause it's cheap and we can go to more games that way. We did the behind home plate seats last year for my 50th birthday, 10 rows from the field. Nice experience, too expensive.

I like to sit in the right field bleachers, but now that Prince F is on the team... my guess when I come to town the place I will like best will be at Progressive field. More available seating and lots of Tiger fans
Has anyone posted when Single seat tickets are going on sale?

I prefer right field seats, you can't bat the price, $10-15 and it's a good view of everything IMO. Also don't forget you can bring a softside cooler (16x8x8 i believe) You can only have plain water bottles and snacks, but saves at least $15 everytime we go
Put me on record. Prince Fielder will still OPS 850+ in years 7-8-9 of this contract. (sucks that my signature has to stay this for 7 years now)

I would also like to vote for the Mezzanine or the RF bleachers/grandstand.
