I cannot envision a scenario where a pitcher would rather it the other way. If on any given night your offense has a better than average chance of scoring more runs that the opposing team the pitcher is going to feel loose IMO. Some pitchers may perform better under pressure like that...I hope it is not Fister. He jumps out to me as a pitcher who was able to play real well under bad conditions...I hope all the extra umph our offense has will not make him relax too much.

When you take everything a plyer offers to the team with talent/numbers/salary..it is hard to find ANYONE else on the team that matches what he brings with the whole package. Avila and Boesch are close IMO, but if Fister keeps it up? Man! What an addition.

Well, the thinking is that they can pitch around poor defense, but they can't do anything about the offense.

All I think what 99% of pitchers care about is run differntial. I think a pitcher perfers to pitch on a team that wins more than he cares about his ERA.

I agree, and the run support is a more obvious component of that than defense.

I think a pitcher would be equally happy if he could win a game 4-3 instead of 5-4. Probably more happy actually.
Ajax is a number 8 hitter at best.

but 5-4 with 3 of the runs unearned because of errors and he's looking for a raise
Put me on record. Prince Fielder will still OPS 850+ in years 7-8-9 of this contract. (sucks that my signature has to stay this for 7 years now)
