2012 Spring Training
ROMAD sees on this site Grapefruit League 2012 Master Schedule | Schedules | Spring Training Online that there is a game at home at Joker Marchant on 17 March 2012. I think i've got enough information to plan a 4-day weekend now. Watchout Disney, Legoland the ROMAD's are coming (again)

Gives me plenty of time to do game threads. Thanks for the kink. They are really getting these schedules out early this time.

I highly recommend getting tickets early for this game. It's the St. Patricks day game, and if it's anything like last year, tickets will be tuff to come by and that's not taking into account that it falls on a Saturday this year.
Anyway, after they go on sale, if you have trouble getting tix, myself and a couple other locals on here should have plenty of extras that we'll have up in the tickets section.Adopt-a-Tiger: 08' Lucas French, 09' Andrew Oliver 1-0 vs NCAA, 10' Daniel Fields

Bert, because of the pines, it looks like a picture at Holman Stadium in Vero Beach. Can't explain the Tigers in home uni's though.

Or dugouts; Just benches. Check out the bat racks. And trees in the stands off to your right. And an open press box. Shade? We don't need no stinkin' shade. A true throwback spring training classic. Sadly, now dark.

I do have a very nice memory of having Sanz toss ROMAD Jr a baseball 2 springs ago during random morning workouts while the team was out on the road. It was on the back field near the lake.
Sheesh...I saw the Phillies in Lakeland as my only ST game last spring...that was a crowd and a half too.

I only got to the free bar bq game at the end of the run and our house was burglarized so I had to leave before the game began.

Mrs ROMAD is a likely hostage to this game so she's likely to have my daughter out on the berm...unfortunate that it might be super crowded. Sheesh I might not even buy good tickets given that.

The 17th may be the day we are there. I am thinking of taking the 15th and 16th off and just laying around the beach and then having the 17 for the game and leaving the 18th. We will see. Thanks for the link.

So, my company "holiday party" is January 14th...I responded to the note by saying that it corresponds to my favorite holiday season: "Pitchers and Catchers Report to Spring Training"

Yeah, the insane late date of our "holiday" party was an odd one. I think most Holiday parties are in that area right around the 2nd week of December which means the actual Holidays are either going on (Hanukkah) or coming in a couple weeks (Christmas and New Years). Nobody has their company Holiday party 14 days after the relevant holiday.

It looks like just one trip to Lakeland by the Yankees this coming spring - Sat. March 24th. As a Tigers fan, I am more than ok with only having to deal with Yankees fans once this spring.

Taking a family trip to Disney 1st week in March, I've negotiated Wednesday the 7th to go to Spring Training. Tigers are playing Atlanta at 1 pm. For the ST experts, what is the general schedule on a game day. Work on back fields before game? After? Best time and place to get an autograph or two?

Yes, there are usually players working out on the back fields. That starts about 10:00 AM or so and is usually done prior to game time. Problem is, there is no access to the back fields on game days, so that's out.
As far as graphing during a home game, some guys will occasionally sign before the game down the right field line. You MUST have a ticket in section 100 or 101 to have a chance as they clear non ticket holders at about 12. A few guys will also sign after the game, by then it's only minor leaguers usually. You can also catch a guy signing as they leave the parking lot, this is very hit or miss as well. I have season tickets in the front row of 101 and have days where Cabrera and Kaline signed and other days where I was shutout, very hit or miss.
If your really looking for autographs, I highly recommend visiting during an away game. I can give you the details on that as well. Any other questions or if your looking for tix, shoot me a PM.
EDIT: The wife and I spend a lot of time at Disney as annual passholders too, so let me know if you have any questions on that as well.Adopt-a-Tiger: 08' Lucas French, 09' Andrew Oliver 1-0 vs NCAA, 10' Daniel Fields

Looks like we're not going to make it down this year. We had planned on going very other year, 2012 being the next one, but the Tigers are in Cincinnati and Chicago the week of our anniversary so we're doing that trip instead this year. Looking forward to 2013....
