Ooooohhhh boy.

Everyone knows the tools, but you won't find anyone who gets less out of them. Maybe Lloyd can pull the 180 he did with Boesch? I don't know.

Cole Nelson is nobody but you have to be worried when PTBs get involved for a guy like Young.

so, delmon's a starting caliber OF (well, barely). who goes bye bye from the 25 man? maggs? raburn? don kelly will probably need to start in delmon's place at least once or twice a week because he's don kelly, so it's not him.

Very odd move. Is Maggs going on the DL? Boesch sounded optimistic that he'd be fine in the long run.

Young has loads of tools and is very aggressive at the plate. He's also a poor fielder, has bad plate discipline and has never consistently cashed in on all his supposed talent. Not surprised the Tigers front office would like a high risk, high reward player like him. But, the timing is odd and I don't see a fit for him on the roster unless an outfielder is going on the DL. That or Rhymes goes back down to Toledo and Raburn and Kelly are permanent fixtures in the infield, so he essentially becomes part of our regular 5 man OF.

You've gotta be kidding yourself if you think they're going to "make room" for him. What has there ever been any indication with the leadership of this team that they ever want to make a change which results in taking out a Tiger veteran? If you actually think Young is going to get significant time ahead of Magglio, Kelly or Raburn, then you must be a brand new Tigers fan.

Seems like an odd trade for the Twins, I guess they want to save some money this year.

From the Tigers point of view I like that he's only on a 1 year contract. Not my money to give him this year if he doesn't hit well, but he was good last year so I like the chance taken without giving up much.

You honestly think any of those three guys will see decreased playing time for Young? Young will start tonight because he's the new guy, just like we always do with every new acquisition or call-up, then no matter what he does he'll be on the bench within the next two days and assume his role behind those three.
