Favorite Brandon Inge Memory
It's apparent that Inge is going to be released tomorrow. What was your favorite Inge memory during his tenure with the Tigers?
-
I'm torn between the groundout or the strikeout.

K vs. Wainwright to win the WS for the Cards. It's not my favorite (I have none) but it's the most lasting.

In all seriousness, his homer off Zito in game one of the ALCS along with a few of his defensive plays that stick out in my mind.

Anyone remember when Inge hit the walk off against Valverde in '09?

Inge's walk off homerun against Troy Percival in 2003 to end an 11 game losing streak. It was the first time the Tigers had ever beaten Troy Percival.

The fact that combining his first initial with his last name created the word binge, which was especially fun to type in capital letters followed by excessive exclamation points.

Honestly 20-30 years from now I think the moment I will recall most was in game 163 in 09. Not the HBP that wasent, but it was late in the extra frames and he got a base hit that put us in the lead that didnt last, but I thought that was the game and I was excited as hell. The game itself was an instant classic so I will always remember it and recall the hit that put us in the lead even though it didnt last.
"Yeah You're right man...that is enough."

Frankly, what I will remember most about Inge is the complaining. It's not that he wasn't a decent player, he had some good years, just nothing that will standout. However, when he said he was a better catcher than Ivan Rodriquez, that one will stick with me. And when he got bumped off of 3B for Cabrera and got bitchy, that will stick out too. Those are the things that I will remember about Inge (and his soul patch).
Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight; my goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. -- Psalm 144:1-2

I remember a play when he fielded a GB and tagged 3rd base, thinking it was the 3rd out. Only problem was it wasn't a force play and everyone was safe. A real brain fart.
But actually, a good memory of him was him hitting a GS in the 9th inning in Tampa a couple of years ago. He turned a sure loss into a sure win.

The Inge homer against Percival back in 03 was one of my favorite Tiger moments ever. That was a much needed win as the team was threatening the Mets 120 loss record.
Inge proved most of the motownsports fans wrong. They wanted him out in his early years but Inge played his way into a Tigers uniform for a decade. He made himself into an average hitter with power and played several defensive positions well.
I think I may have to change my screen name however if Inge is truly gone.Nice to see a civilized baseball crowd. No idiots behind homeplate waving zoo animal puppets and garishly colored flags.(quote from "Antrat")

This. This is my favorite Brandon Inge memory right here.

Inge made some plays deep at 3rd that were nearly inhuman. Also some of his throws were jaw droppers. I'll never forget those.

I guess mine would have to be from 2007. It was an afternoon game in May against the Twins, my wife's first ever Tigers game. Inge led off the 9th inning with a walkoff bomb to left, giving the Tigers a 4-3 win. Made for a very fun day.

The time I got my hat signed by Brandon Inge instead of Granderson because I was too lazy to go to the mall on Granderson day. Sigh.

I used to wonder what kind of career Inge would have enjoyed had Smith and co. not tried to turn him into a catcher...but then I got a PS3 and started focusing in how to kill people in God of War...

On a very positive note, I will always appreciate Brandon when he came up to the Bluhms, Angie and me when we were invited by Grandy to attend Tigers batting practice in Baltimore and offered his condolences and shared some kind words with us. That will always be a fond memory I will have of him.
In his defensive prime he made some fantastic plays that were always fun to watch.

That isn't nice.

The guy did play some nice defense off and on. Had some good offensive seasons off and on but like all players the time to move on comes eventually. He has been really hated by many here the last couple of years and for good reason. He tended to say it wasn't really his fault too many times. He has done what a lot of us wish we could have. Been a MLB player for the Tigers. I'm not into kicking him when he is down. Seriously, think for a moment what it is like to be him right now...it's not your fault...Finding Brandon Inge could be a movie.
We as fans a very superficial because we are not the guy that just got kicked to the curb. Losing your job is no fun for anyone but at least he has a big *** bank account to fall back on (or should).Country strong

Oh yeah, Inge's diving catch and throw to get Pujols at first in '06, I think.

I'll never forget front row seats along the 3B line and Inge sliding into the wall right in front of me to make the catch of a foul ball. I still have pictures of the skid marks he left in the dirt.

Inge's homer two years ago in early September in the ninth in Tampa that gave us a seven game lead or something was very memorable. Of course we f'ed it all up, but I'll always remember that...

I met Inge twice in 2002 and he was very kind to me both times.
My favorite on-field memory was a game against Cleveland five or six years ago when he tripled and homered in the same inning.Tigers record when in attendance: 2012: 3-2 W1 Home: 1-2, Away 2-0
Tigers record when in attendance: 2011: 6-7 L5 Home: 4-5, Away 2-1, Playoffs Home: 0-1

ST a couple years ago as Brandon explained his new tats about his kids. He was quite proud of them even if his audience was not receptive to the idea. He and Max were arm weary from a heavy medicine ball workout and could not even try to sign for the fans. I haven't liked the slide and wish him the best.

Spring training on the road about 2002 or 2003 before he was really popular, I remember the crowds trying to get to all the other players and being able to have a short chat with Brandon after they had finished BP. I have also loved his amazing defensive plays over the years.

Mine as well...I remember watching the full game and wondering why the hell I was bothering when he hit that.
That's my favorite specific memory...Generally though, I think through from 2005 to 2007 Inge was my favorite Tiger. Advanced statistics were just starting to get used to measure defense and Inge had an absolutely crazy year with the glove at third. He was all over Sportscenter's plays of the day, etc...This isn't a measure of defensive excellence by any means, but during that three year period, Inge made 896 successful plays as a third baseman. Second the list was Lowell with 669 (and their a bunch of guys grouped around there).
