MLB Network
I did a search to see if there was a thread on the Network and didnt see one. MY personal interst is to ask a few questions of the people who have it.
I am a big baseball fan obviously, but for the most part I only watch Tiger games. I mean who has the time to watch MORE than 162 games a year? Anyway...is there any other reason to get the Network besides being able to see Tiger games if you are out of state, but still a fan?
What else to do you get from a subscription besides being able to see basically every game?
Do they have post game shows for all the games or is it more like ESPN wher eyou have a wrap up of the games that were played that day?
AND if that is the case:
Is it basically the Red Sox/Yankee network like ESPN is or do they spend an equal amount of time talking about ALL the teams?
APP's for Iphone that may be included? Being able to stream a Tiger game if I am travelling for work would be pretty sweet. etc etc.
Thanks in advance for those who take the time to respond.

I'm not sure if you're confusing MLB network with MLB TV. I don't subscribe to MLB TV, which is the internet access to all televised games.
MLB network is part of my package with DirecTV, so I don't pay for it separately. I don't know how Comcast or the other cable providers handle this. I watch it occasionally but if I had to pay for it separately I probably would not.
The other MLB package is called MLB Extra Innings and that is the one that your cable provider or DirecTV charges about $200 a year. It includes by default nearly every game that is televised, including Tiger games where you can choose the Fox Detroit feed or the other team's feed. Living in Dearborn, you shouldn't need this because you get your games from FSD.Bruce

Brighthouse Florida gives very little pre or post game coverage of games.

I believe you pay for the games themselves and not the comercials and pre and post game coverage. I had the MLB Extra Innings a few years ago as well as MLB.TV at some point. You get the entire game but the feed cuts off for the post game and they show their own commercials on MLB.tv

Yeah sorry...I think I was mixing the 2 up. I should have mentioned that I do get to watch every Tiger game which is really all I want, but I was not sure if MLB Network/MLB TV/MLB Extra Innings was worth it for anyone who has them.
Yeah I get FSN so I see all the pre and post game stuff. Wide Open West does not offer any MLB packages, but I was thinking about changing if it was worth it....I think I am talking myself out of it.

MLB network = espn style highlights channel available either free or as part of a cheap sports tier. It airs a few random games a week.
MLB.tv is an Internet subscription that runs about 150 bucks, giving you access to almost every out of market game. It allows to stream out of market games if you buy a 15 dollar app.
MLB extra innings - similar to MLB.tv except the games are shown on your tv. No app support. Similar price. Similarly limited to out of market games.
If you attempt to view a tigers game in Michigan through the last two services, you will fail. The tigers are only an out of market team if you are outside the state.
If you live in Michigan and don't care much about the other teams, you don't want either of the big money packages.Ajax is a number 8 hitter at best.

And MLB Extra Innings on digital cable has very limited HD coverage. Maybe 1 or two games a night. DirecTV I believe puts just about every game out in HD format.

Some years I get mlb.tv and some years I don't. If the Tigers are in contention I might buy July or August to watch to hope the Twins/White Sox lose.
I also think its fun to go to out of market games that have no hitters going. I'm not sure that is worth $30 a month though. Also, MLBNetwork pretty much looks in on all of those anymore."I told you so."

This is correct as long as the original feed from the local sports channel is in HD.

Is extra innings via time warner STILL not showing all the games in hd? How long can that possibly go on, it's 2011. Sheesh.

MLB.tv is awesome, especially on a PS3 with the premium service. You can then watch any archived game you want, and it's extremely user friendly. I highly recommend it.

I got MLB TV last year then couldn't watch a Tigers game from Findlay, Ohio because I'm still in the Tigers market which blew big time. Could listen to every game but couldn't watch even though i am over 2 hours from Detroit.

Personally,I love MLB Network. And as far as ESPN goes,I don`t even watch it any longer.I HATE basketball anymore and during the long winter, that`s all you ever see and hear about on there. What I love about MLB Network is what the channel is for, baseball 24/7.How it follow`s the Winter Meetings, classic games, and if you play fantasy baseball it keeps you on top of everything all yr. long.Listen to me,I sound like a commercial,I hope I get payed for this.

If there's one thing i didn't understand and never will...why on mlb.tv are home games blacked out-besides all the copyrighted b.s.??
To me, your paying for that service so you should be able to watch both games regardless if you have cable or not.Forever at the corner....

I can almost understand the home games. They would have to convince advertisers that very few people would watch on a PC if they had access to a TV. The region shouldn't extend past where the game is broadcast though.
I've never watched a Fox Saturday game I wouldn't have already watched because of the blackout though."I told you so."

I have Comcast and MLB Network HD is included. It's awesome. They had a lot of good stuff in the off season with breaking news on all the trades and signings. Some good on-air personalities too like Sean Casey, Harold Reynolds, Al Leiter, Kevin Millar, John Smoltz, Mitch Williams and a bunch of others.
Watching Phills and Skankies right now.

I have not watched Baseball Tonight since MLB Network started. Even coverage for all teams.
MLB.TV is a must have for me (in spite of the blackouts grrrr). I watch it on PS3 as well and I just have the standard package. The best $99.95 I spend all year.2012 AAT: Mike Ilitch

So last year I went MLB TV because I really love the PS3 app and the nextdef player is decent too (plus they have a mac client now!) but this year I'm not so sure what I'm going to do - I was sure I was getting MLB TV premium, but now that I no longer have cable TV and won't be able to watch Tiger games with it in real time it might not happen in lieu of getting regular cable to watch Tiger games. That sucks.

Bumping this thread for 2012.
I was just checking out MLB.com and it appears to me that the mobile-only subscription plan is gone this year. Didn't they have a mobile-only plan last year or am I completely off base? It looks like they now throw the At Bat app in with the MLB.tv Premium plan so that you can watch on mobile devices with your MLB.tv subscription but I thought last year they had a mobile-only plan that was cheaper than the full MLB.tv plans.
I signed up for the MLB.tv Premium plan mid-way through the season last year for a heavily discounted price and I'm trying to decide whether to let my subscription automatically renew or wait until they run another promotion after the season has started. I usually ended up watching most of the games on a mobile device last year and so I was contemplating going that route this year but it looks like that option is gone unless I'm missing something.
GO TIGERS!

I really like MLB.TV, and you can still watch old Tiger games from either perspective, and also rewatch the previous game once it's over. I also like MLB Network, so I'm pretty much a baseball junkie.

For non football and non basketball fans, MLB Network has made ESPN completely obsolete. I have no use for them. I hardly watch the Sunday Night game anymore, unless the Tigers are on. And hockey doesn't exist to ESPN anymore.
The last night of the season in 2011 was the greatest night in baseball and it was largely due to MLB Network's coverage as it happened. It was borderline surreal. THey were cutting from game to game. No commercials. It was like watching a news network cover a Presidential Election on Election Night.
Remember a couple of years ago when they inadvertantly ran a special where you got mlb.tv for like $20? They honored it for me..

I love MLB Network. I occasionally have to watch Baseball Tonight on ESPN and sit through their nightly Yankee-Red Sox circle jerk before they get to the Tigers. Some nights they just skip Pirate or Padre or Mariner games alltogether.
MLB Network spent 10 minutes discussing Inge going to second base in Tampa.
