Big fan of MLB network, I get a lot of use out of it.
I still watch a good amount of ESPN though.

The baseball I watch on TV is usually actual games, so MLB Extra Innings is pretty much all I need. The MLB Network does have some features such as replays of old games or top 10 lists that I'll occasionally watch in the winter. I don't need ESPN for baseball at all.

In response to MLB.tv and MLB Network not being the same thing, I know. I just couldn't find an MLB.tv thread and so I used this one which had discussion about both.
Sorry for any confusion.

Edited because I forgot to quote Yoda's post when I replied which made my post look very odd since it wasn't clear who I was talking to.

Thanks for the reminder. Need to bump UVerse back to U300 package to get the MLBN.
Also, MLB.TV had a mobile only version (about 1/2 price IIRC) last year. I don't see that even mentioned this year.
EDIT: It was for $49.99 and worked great on my iPad. Now it looks like I have to get the $124.99 option? Nothing like a 150% increase.Last edited by action000; 02-20-2012 at 09:19 AM.

We've always had the premium subscription, but never really watched other games in full. If the Tigers are home we're at the game and if they're on the road we watch them. Now that they offer streaming to other wifi devices like our TV I'll probably get more out of the subscription besides the here-and-there times I'll watch a few minutes on the iPhone.

Not as good as $50.

I actually wrote to them asking if they did away with the $50 for mobile-only devices. Their response:
"There is no Mobile only product this season…we combined products to meet customer requests."
Really? They had "customer requests" to bump up the price from $50 to $125?

Every time you play a hand of you poker you wanna run through a mental check list. Head Position Hand Position Neck Position Breathing Posture. More than 25 items. It's a lot. And that why I've come up with a handy mnemonic device. Just one word: HPHPNPBPECMSPAMDCPAFTSTTL. It's easy.

The problem with your theory is that last year it was $110 for premium, $90 for basic, and $50 for mobile-only.
Oh and more to the point - if you had the premium or basic, you have access to the MLB.TV on the smartphone devices. So it wasn't that they just combined them ... they were combined.Last edited by action000; 02-20-2012 at 08:31 PM.

Usually before the season starts they give some kind of discount. It's usually a very short-lived offer though.
You have to keep an eye out for it.Robert Culp still dead.

I think the "Baseball IQ" trivia show is really cool. Good concept.

MLB Network is great. It's part of DirecTV. The trivia gameshow and Intentional Talk are quite entertaining. I like having the MLB.tv for the flexibility over Extra Innings. With MLB.tv you can stream from just about any device these days. You can also redirect your IP to avoid blackouts. If you live in the Tigers viewing area it probably isn't as beneficial unless you like to watch the archived games.
I edit my posts because of typos. I'm horrible at typing quickly.
