Well this sucks. Back on the sauce for Miggy it appears.

The buzz is back after I saw the mug shot. Is this the best mug shot ever?

Where do they go from here? The dude obviously has a huge problem with alcohol. They can't just take him at his word anymore...but what other options do they have?

Somebody please get this man in a treatment program before he hurts someone else or himself.

As long as sentences in his bio read like: "He ended his 2010 season with a .328 batting average, a career-high 38 HRs and 126 RBIs," then I'm happy with Miguel in Detroit.

I hope if I get arrested I am as happy as Cabrera, what a smile. The dude has some issues with alcohol, needs help.

Crap...Normal people get in a load of trouble for this crap and it's right that he should too. This really sucks. So jail? Rehab to focus on getting well? What? Damn.

I will say that because he wasn't actually seen "driving" the car, the arrest seems a bit overboard.
That having been said, Miguel's got a problem, but as long as it doesn't affect his ability on the field, I don't care. There's always money in the banana stand!

He went "Do you know who I am?" on a cop. Ugh.Cabrera, whose eyes were bloodshot and speech “heavily slurred,” was handcuffed and walked towards a patrol vehicle before being told to get in the vehicle.
“Do you know who I am, you don’t know anything about my problems,” Cabrera is quoted as saying.CLARK GRIFFITH, Owner of the Washington Senators, on his team's roster: "Fans like home runs, and we have assembled a pitching staff to please our fans."

I just saw the headline then read the body of the story. This is some seriously bad stuff. There are serious consequences for this kind of behavior. There have to be.A deputy asked Cabrera to get his a patrol vehicle, and he said, “(Expletive) you.”
Miguel Cabrera pushed off a vehicle into a deputy, who “delivered 3-4 knee spikes” into Cabrera’s left thigh.
In addition to the DUI charge, Miguel Cabrera faces two misdemeanor counts of resisting an officer without violence. Sheriff’s officials also issued Cabrera a citation for open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

The part I find most disturbing is the fact that he grabbed the bottle of scotch and was drinking while the cop was present.

I don't get why his driver was at Tigertown yesterday and not in the damn drivers seat. Tigertown staff were expecting Miggy, Maggs and Santiago to show up in the PM yesterday, I guess Miggy didn't make it. Just stupid.

The Minnesota Supreme Court just upheld a DUI conviction on a guy who was found unconcious in a vehicle that wasn't running...in fact the keys weren't even in the ignition, they were on the dash.
It's the curse of the number 24...it got Marvin Barnes in this town, it got Probie and now it got Miguel...

The more I read in this thread regarding his behaviour with the cops, the more I'm starting to dislike the guy.
This will sink in later today, but this is going to hurt. All of our talk regarding predictions and all of our excitement for the season... what a punch in the gut.Retired. Thanks for the entertainment.

dammit....
This really bums me out. Is this what he's been doing during the off season? Does he live in Venezuela or Miami?
The only potentially good thing is that this was a single event and not a case of him being off the wagon for a long time..

Dang, this is a bummer.

Wow, this is unfortunate. Not the press the Tigers needed heading into the season. He's an addict with an amazing talent in baseball. I don't know much more to say.

I hear ya. I guess the trouble with the cops had me worried. I like the optimism and I agree with you. I think I'm just disappointed like most people are knowing that we're going to hear about this all season long. I like hearing about reformed Miguel rather than troubled Miguel. Obviously we all do.
Retired. Thanks for the entertainment.

Shame. Not sure it will have much of an effect on the season, though.

They need to have a full-time babysitter on him, and get him in the deluxe treatment program now. Last time I think they trusted him too much to handle the problem on his own...
