2010 Spring Training - The early days

My first day out to the field for pre-Spring Training. Any pics are still on the flash card and I'll upload and print some on here shortly. Not a pretty day like I expected. Overcast with a light Northern wind in the upper fifties. At 9:15 I found no players or cars at the clubhouse. Slowly a few players emerged from the minor league clubhouse and over the next 30 minutes we probably had 25 in total. As I add pics, I'm not going to caption them yet. Have some fun and then I'll confirm those I know.,

I recognized Welles walk and as he came closer I wasn't sure until he talked. His face has leaned down. And correct on the other two.

Joel's beard is awesome. Verlander should grow one. They all should.

Is 23 Richard Zumaya? (Edit - I meant 22, but that's Avila I guess. Hard to see Avila out of the batter's box.)

EDIT - Say what you will about Joel, and some people on this board have said some pretty bad things about him. But you cannot possibly question the man's work ethic. The last two years he has showed up looking great, and has been among the first people there. You can tell he wants to pitch so badly. I hope this year he's able to notch some innings.

So far, I think all are correct name/pic associations. 23 is Joel with his glasses. I did not see Richard which I found strange. Gallaraga reported in today but if he is in a pick I missed him.

Since #7 has Verlander on the left of the Pic... shouldn't it technically be "Justin Verlander & Joel Zumaya"?

Thanks and Chaz or TeamMom will confirm Robbie. He was my first thought. I didn't see Raburn or Rabelo and had put my camera away when Below went by.

Pitcher with a strong arm is all I can tell you. He and Zumaya were throwing some long balls side by side (No not those super throws we have seen Joel hurl).

Quick thing on players rides without disclosing the makes.....Zumaya has had some work on his ride and it has an evil sound now. Verlander arrived in what I thought was his usual wheels until I listened to the new cams I heard. Then I noticed subtle differences before I recognized that he either upgraded to a new ride or went hi grade aftermarket on his original. Let's just say he added a "whole bunch of this thing is so fast I wet myself"!! For some of our newer followers, the players were upset a few years ago when I listed or photoed their vehicles. This is a boat I will not rock.
