No activity at the ballpark we were interested in watching. As a cool gale blew in, we realized the players took the day off (it was optional). Bradshaw had a group of kids and Denny Doyle had some teens working out while we listened to National Anthem auditions.

Just curious, were the singing tryouts outside during the gale? I hope the judges were downwind...

Roger, it's no big deal, but if I didn't know better I would think that it was Hollimon on the left and Carlson on the right in #35, because your caption has them listed in that order. Of course, it's the other way around, but I'm sure there are folks viewing who would be misled by the caption.

Thank you as always for the pics Roger. I may not post a lot, but I visit the site every day and your pics are always my favorite thing. It makes us feel a bit warmer up here in Michigan during February!

I like the pics and all, but I think I appreciate Roger's creative use of adjective and great descriptions more. Something about describing the warm weather, sun, and "cool breezes" makes me fast forward 4 months to the days when we have our time with all of that up here.

You make painting a mental picture easy and fun for us -- I think it's underrated so I thought I'd mention it. Thanks.

. We had three of our Morons there this morning. We realized early that it was going to be a bust. We were all cold in the wind, yet it was a beautiful day and we WERE at the ballpark. Finally our good sense said it was time to leave. We willl be back Monday. The next week or two is my favorite time of year. The structure is still relaxed and the crowd won't be here until about the 19th. We get to talk with the players without hounding them, By the weekend of the 20th, our special little Tiger world will evolve with several hundred fans, media and professional collectors on the premises. Gate nazis, idiots and of course many of the players reluctant to spend a half an hour signing. Still I can't ask for a more wonderful end to Winter. May the blanket of white on the manicured lawns be young Tigers on the way to a pennant.

Don't forget about the "older lady" with the crazy eyes... I hope she's back this year (fingers crossed)

Speaking of this thread...can someone please explain to me why that fs detroit can't air more than two s.t. games? I mean I know that hockey and basketball are still going on...but there's always fs plus?

I'm just thinking of those who aren't fortunate enought head down to florida.

Been there once for a s.t. game...i think it was about '92 or '93

Great Florida Winter morning. We went from sweatshirts and jackets to tees in three hours. From basking in the cold sun to seeking shade. Oh and we had our kids on the field.. Pics uploading now and I'll link a few later.

As I was ready to say goodbye to friendly fans, one of the groundscrew "Bartow" let me know that I had a flat tire. This does not happen to me! Not quite flat, I decided to chance it to the nearest air supply but never made it out of the parking lot fearing I would cause further damage. I figured out how to unpack the spare donut and with help of two of our Morons the tire was changed. But the never used spare was worse than the original. (Check yours a couple times a year.) I bade farewell to my friends as I called for roadside assistance. About two hours later the roll back arrived and instead of towing to repair, I just had him air up the donut so I could make it home. I can fix it but will have to skip Tuesday morning. So this old body is whipped tonight.

Got to talk cars briefly with Verlander this morning and he sounded like the young man I knew in '05. Watched Kaline and McClendon joke and carry on with players like Bonderman. You don't get to see Al smile and laugh enough.
