Underwood is no Lolich. Hopefully, Fidrych can get his shoulder to heal eventually. It would be nice to get him back at 100%. This Kessinger guy the White Sox have as manager is going to get fired. Just a hunch. They'll probably hire that LaRussa dude to replace him. He'll finsh out this year and then be gone forever. Interim managers are garbage.

Final score prediction.......

Tigers 4
White Sox 1

I'll post my score prediction for the second game after this one is finished.

Well, we're about a month into the Sparky Anderson era. I don't have any idea how on earth he's gonna deliver a title to Motown in 5 years like he promised. I'll give him `til 1984, but no longer.

They really need to call up Mike Chris. He's a 21-year-old lefty at Triple A Evansville, and he has 37 wins - 37! - against 22 losses over the past 2 1/2 years. He's on his way to Cooperstown, and if they don't call him up by the end of July that's it, I'll find another team to cheer for.

Another thing that's cool about the video news footage is the highlights from game 1 that evening. Look how skinny all those ballplayers were. (Greg Luzinski was still in Philly then).

Are you serious? Mike Chris stinks. They need to bring up Bruce Robbins. Anyone who thinks Chris is better than Robbins is an uninformed idiot.

You're such a tool. What part of "37 wins" don't you understand? Do you even know how many wins Robbins has? Why don't you subscribe to The Sporting News? Can't afford the $19.95 per year? Don't know how to read?

Bruce Robbins, just so you know, has 14 wins during the same time frame as Chris has had 37, and Robbins has pitched at the lowest levels and hasn't even been to Triple A. If they call him up before Chris I'll give you a million dollars.

Wrong. Want to know why? Because he lifts weights. Don't tell anyone though, because the Angels' trainer has expressly forbidden it - it makes you muscle-bound.

He's going to be around for a while yet, and the Tigers should trade for him. I'd hate to give up Ricky Peters, he's our best prospect, but the Angels would want him for sure. They'd want Mike Chris too but no f'ing way. I'd give them Trammell though, he's never going to hit and we have Mark Wagner; and I'd give them what's left of Jack Billingham. That should get it done - Peters, Trammell and Billingham.

I really like the Sox's CF Chet Lemon. I hope we can get him somehow. LeFlore's going to get old quick. I bet we could win a World Series with Lemon on the squad.

So true. I just saw them in a bar on 4th Ave in Tucson and can't understand what people see in them.

And anyway, what's so wrong with disco? I bet 30 years from now there will be nothing but disco. It will have eclipsed all other musical art forms.

I remember that night like it was yesterday. I was really excited because the Tigers were going to televise both ends of the doubleheader and was upset the second game became a forfeit. Bill Veeck. Ha!

Do you think anyone complained about the lefty power in 84? I mean, they did have Bergman, Gibby, Evans, and Whitaker...

What's with bringing up all these AAAA scrubs lately? First Petry, then Brookens. No way either one of them sticks.

Just got my DREAD card from WRIF. I'm going to stick to the pledge on the back: I will never wear platform shoes or zodiac jewelry.

Disco sucks! That's why I listen to the WRIF, W4 and WABX.

Gotta go. They're about to show a Tarzan movie on Channel 20, as soon as Blondie is over.

I don't care what those hoodlums do. Disco will never die. When I'm born in 10 years, it'll still be alive and well.

What a despicable situation after Game 1. No matter what any other city's sports fans do, Chicago fans are going to be the butt of all the sports riot jokes forever because of today. I'd hate to have to deal with that.

My uncle swears the lead singer's brother is in law school with him up at MSU....yeah, right - way to latch on to your famous rock-star brother - like you'll be the bigger name in the family.

What's next for Chicago fans - running on the field and attacking first base coaches?

It was exactly 30 years ago to the minute. July 12, 1979, 8:38 Central Daylight Time

Comiskey's a dump anyway. It's old, but not a classic, not Tiger Stadium classic. Tiger Stadium will go on forever -- there's no way to get rid of the trough urinals.

At least it's only the fans and not the players. Could you imagine if the White Sox got a player who liked to pick fights with everyone? You never know, he might come home and get punched in the face by an opposing catcher.
