Question in regards to todays game, Fox broadcasts, blackouts ..
since the games of the week run @ 4:00 pm today, does that mean 7:05 games will be blacked out? Normally the 7:05 games arent', but the games of the week running later I was just curious.
I apologize if this is a stupid question.

The MLB Extra Innings guide on DirecTV is showing all the 4 PM games available today.

FOX's exclusive window runs from 4:00 pm- 7:00 pm. Last week, WGN played a Cubs-Brewers game at 1:00 pm. Remember last year, when the Rays had scheduled a 6:00 pm start, but the Tigers could only broadcast from 7:00 pm on? That's how it works.

I think the blackout period is from 1:10pm to 7:00pm. 1:05 games aren't subject to blackouts because the Jays and Cubs have both played 1:05 games this year and they weren't blacked out.

The Rays have a 6:00 start today, (post game concert), and the whole game is blacked out. The Tigers got that waiver last year, which was also a concert game, but that's the only time I recall it.

Keep in mind next Saturday's Tigers-Yankees game will be played at 1:05 PM Eastern. It will blacked out outside of the Detroit and New York Market Areas.

I'll be there, so hopefully I won't have to deal with the blackout restrictions or else I'll demand my money back.

sigh. I HATE saturday's. Well, the stupid black outs anyways. They really need to get rid of this for people that pay them for the Extra Innings package.

I don't get this, the 1pm games are not on FOX, why are they part of the blackout?
They are slowly working through some of these issues as by next year you are supposed to be able to watch any game on mlb.tv, even if you are in your home team market. They just released NY and SD to local broadcasts.
By and large, MLB is still operating on a tv plan developed in the 70's.

Fox paid for it so they get it. And the owners are so antiquated that they refuse to look at the terrible blackout rules in places like Vegas and Iowa where like 5 teams claim home territory.

What I don't get is why MLB blocks out the national broadcast in favor of the local broadcast. You'd think someone would understand that fans are interested in other POV besides the homers that they have to listen to constantly.

Does that apply to mlb.tv or only extra innings? The All Star break eliminated enough days of this free trial.
