Default CoPa Seating Question

We are going to attend the upcoming afternoon game against Seattle on Thursday the 23rd of July. My wife has a problem with the direct sun. Is there anywhere in the park where the seats are protected from the sun for most of an afternoon game?

Appreciate any help!

behind the plate seating in the lower deck is probably your best bet.

Others may have more suggestions, but the only ones I'm sure about are terrace seats on the first base/ rf side. They are sheltered by being under the upper rf box.

Absolutely avoid anything to the left of home plate and the bleachers.

Sun is pretty brutal at Comerica. I've gone to 3 day games - 3 times I've been sunburned. One day was 98 degrees or something insane (was the game where Grandy robbed Wily Mo Pena)

Tigers Den seats are usually protected from the sun. Big ol padded seats and a nice table too.

I like to sit there when i can

That day was HOT, we sat in Right field for that one

As posted above the Tiger's Den or the Terrace seating are your best options for staying out of the sun completely and are both great seating areas.

The Tiger's Den is more expensive at $65 per seat compared to 38$ for a Terrace seat, the main differences being the Den seats are located between first and third base while the Terrace represent seats along the outfield. While the Terrace I believe all have nice padded seats with shorter rows for easier access than other sections and a nice little ledge for setting drinks, the Den seats are wide detached padded chairs with a wooden table in between for setting drinks/food/whatever which is nice.

+1

I completely agree with this.

Half the battle is avoiding the third base side of seating and bleachers. That is direct sunlight for day games.

For a day game pretty much everything is in the sun with the exception of the Tiger Den and Terrace seats. Our seats are in 218 and 321 and both are sun sections for day games.

Funny. I was at the Labor Day game in 2005. Grandy robbed Peralta (I think it was Peralta) of a homer. Tigers lost 2-0 and I caught a foul ball off of Hafner's at bat.
I was in the Tiger den and it was only in the 70s that day but the sun made it feel like 95.
I think I drank about 5 large beers.
All in all, a good day.

Definetly want to stay on the first base side. Also stay in the lower deck, more specifically further back in the lower deck. Both the Tiger Den and Terrace seats are good, so are some of the lower outfield box seats if you stay in the upper few rows. If they are available, I'd stay in the Den and Terrace sections, but if necessary the last rows of the box seats on the first base side will be mostly shaded.

+1 on the Terrace seating. Very good seats.

On the 3rd base side of the Terrace seats, there are a few sections where you can't see all of the scoreboard if the row is too far up. You might want to ask about that when buying the tickets if you think it will bother you.

Infield box. Seats are huge and cushioned, and you'll be in the shade the whole time. $45 for a non-premium game.

Sit anywhere, but use a high protection sunblock. That's what I do and have zero problems doing it that way. I use Coppertone Sport Lotion with an SPF of 30. Never been sunburned using it even when golfing during prime sunburning hours. No need to re-apply, either. Lasts for hours.
