Man, I'm glad I only root for Cleveland when it helps the Tigers or hurts the BoSox. To say they'd be hard to watch this year is an understatement.

Well sure, you aren't trading Strieby and Crosby for the guy. But, I'd see if they're just looking at the ERA and desperate to get something of value for him, offer up Marte or Fien for him.

Brandon Inge:

Quote:
Inge had been planning to spend the All-Star break with his family on the western side of the state along Lake Michigan. He'll now be quickly changing those plans and bringing his wife and two kids to St. Louis.

He also indicated as far back as last weekend that he'd be interested in taking part in the All-Star Home Run Derby if he made the team.

"Heck, yeah," Inge said. "I don't care if I hit none. It would be fun to just try."

I just noticed... The Tigers have fewer home losses than anyone in baseball. That's especially significant, considering the start the Dodgers got off to at home!

How much better of an off day can we ask for?
Twinkies continue their slide with another lose, White Sox lose and Inge is voted in as an All Star!

Just perfect.

No, Eric, he won't. Podsednik gave him a 10 pitch battle for the last out, and after fouling away lots of fastballs and a couple of curves on the outside black, Wood throws him a hard slider about 8 inches inside and Podsednik strikes out.

It's nice gaining a half game without doing anything. I also like that Cleveland got a win out of the way for the week so that Detroit can sweep them.

I had the tube on listening to the end of that game. I'm glad the Tribe won, but I felt so dirty rooting for the Indians. I need a shower.

Don't think of it as rooting for the Indians, to win...

Think of it as rooting for the White Sox to LOSE...

And I think I heard Rod Allen say that the Tigers have played more road games during the first half than anyone in baseball -- which means we'll have a good home schedule for the stretch run.

Chicago and Minnesota both lose. My favorite Tiger gets selected to the ASG and will be in the HR Derby. We got Cleveland coming to town tomorrow. I would say this is a pretty damn good off day.

Remember Andrew Miller? He's on the mound vs. Arizona tonight. This has been one ugly off-day as there have been no real good matchup's around the league. I gave Hanson vs. Cook a try in Atl vs. Colorado but to no avail.

Miller just gave up a 2 run shot to Upton. Poor kid.

Miller just pulled the unthinkable by throwing 10 feet over the catcher's head during an intentional walk.

Miller did have a good night.

Now 6-0 in the 3rd as Chris Young hit a 2 run triple and Tony Clark ripped a double to score Young.

His final line:

2 2/3 ip, 5h, 6r, 5er, 3bb, 0 k, 1 hra

Burke Badenhop came in to end the 3rd

It is the action that is hot, not the girls. Since they are both girls (we hope) then the action is necessarily hot.

Tim Lincecum has thrown 29 consecutive scoreless innings as of right now (6 innings deep in a no-hit bid against the Padres). More impressive than that: it's been 24 innings since anyone reached 2nd base against him. Good lord.

That said, his fastball velocity is down quite a bit this season. Is he pacing himself? He isn't really a guy who lives and dies by his fastball anyway. Overall, he's probably got the best offspeed arsenal in baseball, and certainly the best changeup (it's really a splitter) from a righty.

I've always thought he was a long-term injury waiting to happen. But for now, he is a joy to watch pitch. Simply dominating.

What makes you think that? His mechanics aren't very violent. He's little, sure, but you don't have to be a big guy to be strong.

Timmy is having some serious control issues in the 7th in SF. Bases loaded, 2 outs for SD.

He's had spotty control all night. He didn't throw a ton of strikes. He'd be 2-1, 3-1 on a guy and he'd ground out weakly. That said, twice I watched him fight back from 3-0 to record outs. He's a pretty impressive guy.

I've never trusted his delivery and he is putting an awful lot of innings on his young arm. He's on pace to throw upwards to 240 innings this year. We'll see. Injuries are tough to predict.

I think it has been suggested that his motion could make him prone to hip injuries.

A 10 run 8th inning for the Marlins has put them in the lead 14-8 over Arizona. Unreal. You don't witness something like that often. The longest inning ever for the home fans.... the ones that still remained.

the other night I was watching Baseball tonight and the Showalter says "Look at those broad shoulders, scouts like to see that."

Ravech says "What does that do for you exactly?"

"I have no idea but the scouts like it."

There's a lot of that thinking in the scouting world, from what I can gather. Lots of old-timey ******** for a lot of those guys.

what was great was Showalter didn't say it like "They're idiots". He said it like they are smart and you just have to trust them.
