Default Dontrelle Willis Rehab Video (1st 6 innings from Lakeland outing 4/21/09)

I apologize for the poor quality. I would have captured the whole outing if my batteries didn't die with one out left in the 6th. Also, the audio at the end of the third video isn't quite in sync, but this should give you a visual representation of how he is improving.

At one point the stadium gun had him at 94, but Larry mentioned in another thread that the stadium gun is off so I have no idea.

My dad was at this game; called me afterwards. Said he was happy with how Willis looked. Also said Willis really looked happy, having fun tonight. Much better mood than last year.

I hope we can get him back at a high level, but who knows... he's looking good in these vids, though!

So Dontrelle takes it upon himself to change back to his old motion and a month later he's hitting 94 mph?

I really don't think he hit 94 but if it was anywhere around 90-92 I'd be very happy. Back in his Marlins days I don't recall him ever hitting 94. Maybe this anxiety disorder is making his arm stronger kind of like the Rookie of the Year kid in that movie lol

As long as his velocity was 88-90 and he threw strikes it was something to build on..let him continue to build arm strength..for Willis..deception and location are more important than velocity.

No walks so that's nice. Gave up 4 runs at High A ball though. Not really keen on that.

No walks, ton of grounders. I'm assuming most of the 7 singles were grounders that made their way through the infield. Couple errors made too.

I think 90-92 is the official word, which I think is quite good at this stage. All the strikes were great. If he keeps this control, I see no reason why he can't be effective in the bigs.

I remember that the first run was cause by a base hit grounder that should have been stopped. On the flipside, the rightfielder also made a great catch that saved a couple of runs. In the end it probably all evened out.

He gave up four runs to piddly minor leaguers? Willis is done, trade him.

All I care about is the lack of walks. Nice to see. And interesting that he went back to his old delivery.

he did look like he was having fun and pitched well. My consern is that he pitched last night in front of maybe 400 people. What is going to happen when he pitches in front of 20,000+ at Comerica?
