Killing the cursed logo....

Okay, I realize that I'm probably being stupid but when it comes to baseball I am superstitious.

For as long as the Tiger through the D logo was the official logo the Tigers had losing seasons.

As soon as they changed back to the D as the official logo they went to the World Series.

However, the Tiger through the D continues to be an alternate logo and they cannot get over the hump.

I am getting rid of everything with that old logo. I have fan plates on the front of my vehicles that are being replaced. I am going to burn my old 1994 Tiger through the D hat that hasn't seen the light of day since it was new.

That logo and it's losing ways must be destroyed.

That is my favorite Tigers logo, I have 3 or 4 shirts I bought from Detroit Athletic with that logo!

How does one add a picture to a post? I have a pic of myself in a Tiger shirt from around '56 or '57, i believe....never seen it on the board before, but may have missed it....

Why not just the D as the logo? The Yankees for instance do not have Uncle Sam in their logo. The simpler logos have a more lasting effect...

I have always hated that Tiger through the D logo. I thought the Tigers abandoned that entirely, but is that not true?

It's officially an alternate logo. I think that's its proper place. I thought it was creative, but I'm glad that the D without the Tiger has returned to the name/number t shirts and the little league uniforms.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and agree with Biff on this. The logo was too childish in my opinion. And you can't argue with the fact that that thing was cursed! I loved the JohnJMS brought up and I think that should be used as the alternate once again.

Biff, I agree with you. The Tiger through the D needs to be completely banished. Just stick with the old english D. I prefer the hat version as opposed to the uniform but that's another debate.

What we really need is to bring back the animated Tiger after each broadcast....

I thought I had read a few years back that the crappy logo had been officially discontinued by the tigers. But if that were the case, the networks wouldn't have the logo to use, because I imagine those graphics and logos are provided to the networks and licensed by mlb.

They really new to drop it. I don't see old devil rays or angels logos appearing anywhere.

I think it's meant to be used on the more cheaper Tiger merchandise.

Maybe it's a licensing thing where they can't get rid of it yet due to some contracts in place. For my birthday I got a nice fake stone thing to put on a desk with the nice "Tigers" script and a gnome on top of it... then next to it is that God Awful logo. I even mentioned to my wife previously that I didn't like the logo and wanted noTIger stuff with it. It could be a personalized autograph from Verlander, Cabrera, and Al Kaline but if that logo is there, forget it.

I have a "throwback" shirt from Birmingham Collection (or something like that?) on the east side that just has three buttons on top at the collar and the tiger through the D logo on the left chest.
