While just his first rehab outing, this is definitely a good sign. Hopefully he's feeling ok today.

Adoptive dad is thrilled.
Given that our starters have begun to show some consistency for 7 innnings, the possibility of not losing a close game in the 8th or 9th is just too enticing!

Anybody feeling they should develop him into a starter this time around. Even before this freak accident he was always dealing with minor injuries. Even though he would be pitching a lot more inning, he would get many more off days. He also has the stuff to start and could easily emerge as the teaam's ace. He has the top FB along side a great breaking ball(curve ball). His change-up is also pretty good according to his minor league reports(abeit he rarely threw it the past two years).
The bull pen will be fine if Rodney can come back and be effective. Even Bautista may pitch well when he returns from the DL. He did good for most of April and has great stuff.

With his "maximum effort" type of delivery", I am personally content to see him remain in the bullpen. I do think he would be wasted as a one-inning closer, though.

I don't think Zoom should be a starter... By decreasing his monster fastball a few mph, we're taking away his effectiveness of a best pitch. He could be a dominating closer one day.

I wouldn't wast him as a closer. Let the Todd Jones' of the world handle that job. I like Zumaya in the 7/8 inning role. The true stopper.

Excellent, velocity and control. this is fantastic news. (hmph, I will miss his debut back with Detroit--by the time I get back from Israel, his return will be in the category of old news). How did his rehab affect the attendance?

Hey, a photographer can't help the facial expressions on the pitchers faces. Although a few I have gotten pictures of seemed to have trained their faces to make that grimace look like a smile

Nobody looks as silly during their delivery as Kenny Rogers does!

I'd like to see him become the kind of closer that closers used to be. If an opponent starts threatening in the eighth, I'd want him coming in to make their hopes and dreams crash and burn. Then as they come up for the ninth, still demoralized, I'd want to see him back on the mound to dance on the ashes of those hopes and dreams.

I know, and no offense to photographers out there. I guess some of the freeze frames and pictures I have seen of the Gambler lately have been awkward looking, even though that's at the point where he's applying that extra effort to the pitch. It's sort of like the grunts tennis players make when they return a serve or whatever.
I'm sure I'd look rather awful if I were pitching and a picture captured my facial expression.
