Default 2008 Home Schedule

This is kind of odd, but the Tigers have released the home portion of the schedule. I'm not sure why the away portion wouldn't be released, because it must be known right? In any case, here's what I see looking quickly:

-The Tigers have Boston and New York in back to back series in early May.
-There is a 2 game homestand which just seems like more MLB schedule making magic at work.
-The homestand of the year might be a 10 gamer in June that features 4 against Cleveland and finishes with 3 against the LA Dodgers.
-The other NL teams to come to town are the St. Louis Cardinals (for the 3rd year in a row) and the Colorado Rockies.
-The last homestand of the year could be favorable with 3 against the Royals (although I think they will be better next year, like 3rd place maybe) and then 4 against the Devil Rays.
-The only non-AL Central team to come to town twice is the LA-Anaheim-California Angels who come in April and September.</li>

The regular season starts March 31st? Seems like lots of coats and hats will be in order.

Why do they start these seasons in the North anyway? I would think the South, Southwest, and West teams should always host the first few series.

Good to see that we open against divisional opponents.

Two game homestand?

MLB continues to be stupid. Though...I do like that the season is starting earlier. Please, no more November World Series?

Yea, because more then anything really Election Day is Nov 3rd, and since they are starting the WS mid week now to avoid low ratings on the weekend, they probably want to be sure that it is over, so they don't have to play on Election Day..or after Election Day...

The WS should end on Oct 30th, 2 days earlier than this year, still on a Thursday. (Next year is a leap year). And, yes, it is a shame they avoid the weekend for the WS because of football competition.

You'd think they would start the season later after the experience of this past April. I guess Milwaukee had better get ready for another 'home' opener.

How long will it take to get a roof put on the new Twins stadium after the first April?

I added in the interleague series on the road. I know the SD and Arizona ones, but am guessing on the Giants.

Are the San Diego dates confirmed?

I looked on their site and I couldn't find a link. My fiance and I are getting married on June 14th and what would be better than a SF/SD honeymoon the week following the wedding? We met at Wrigley Field last year when the Tigers played there and we're having a Tigers/Cubs themed wedding. The confirmed SF dates are June 16-18.

It doesn't matter when the April home games are scheduled for in Detroit. Some years early April is warmer than later in the month.

One can't predict when the snow/cold is going to come. Beginning, middle, or end - sometime during April the weather will turn back to winter. We just hope the Tigers are on the road when the inclimate weather comes.

If those Arizona dates are correct, that's awesome! My birthday is May 16th and I believe I already know where I'll be.

I'm pretty sure where I'll be for the 17th and 18th, as well.

So, the Tigers skip the Marlins completely this year?

It's just that the NL West and AL Central are paired up.

I am glad that we see the Yankees earlier in the season. Us not seeing them back to back till August made no sense.

Thanks. I updated that as well. I just figured MLB would give the team the travel day going from Detroit to SF instead of going from SF to SD.

I guess that's why they call it tentative with the August homestand against the Orioles and Blue Jays being shuffled around.

Has anybody seen the Yankees home schedule yet? We're planning a trip in April, regardless of who they play, and they haven't released anything. I have a feeling they're still protesting to MLB because they're scheduled to close Yankee Stadium on a Wednesday and then go to Boston to finish the season. The Mets are scheduled to close Shea on the weekend and the Yankees are whining that they should get to close the season at home.

150 out of 162 games have been determined, all that is left is when they play in Boston, New York, Baltimore and Oakland.

I am going to assume these dates based on the schedule up to that point.

@ Boston April 8,9,10
I read somewhere but not sure that the tigers will play boston home opener

April 29,30,31 @ New York

June 3,4,5 @ Oakland
this seems logical since they are on the west coast in Seattle and Los Angels right before this

July 18,19,20 @ Baltimore
Thise series and the one with New York could be flipped, these are only two I have no actual reason for.

Wed. April 16th - 7:05
Thurs. April 17th - 7:05

Mon. July 28th - 7:05
Tues. July 29th - 7:05
Wed. July 30th - 7:05
Thurs. July 31st - 12:05

Fri. Sept. 19th - 7:05
Sat. Sept. 20th - 7:05
Sun. Sept. 21st -1:05
And the Toronto series that was slated to start on the 17th now starts on the 18th of April.

I've edited the top post to reflect the new additions (but not with times for the road series')

Good speculation. I think you probably have the absent series filled in correctly.

However, I only counted 148 games, though I could be wrong.

The series in July against New York/Baltimore would probably be a four game series since it is right after the All Star break, starting on Thursday, July 17. Though last year there were a few clubs that had a four-day break starting back up on Friday.

According to the Devil Ray's web site, Tampa Bay is at Baltimore Apr 29, 30 and May 1. So it looks like the Tigers will visit New York in that time period.

This would mean the Orioles would host the Tigers the weekend after the All Star break in July.
