Do it like my brother-in-law did to my sister when he bought a big-screen TV. Hide them somewhere until she goes shopping and then move them into the house. Once they're in there's nothing she can do.
By the way, I picked up a pair, too. The great thing is, my fiancee wanted me to buy another set!!

Ordered my pair of seats yesterday as well!
There is one additional item I would love to have, but I'm not sure if it exists anymore.
I really want to get the detroittigers.com signs that hung in the upper decks during the last couple years, since MotownSports.com began as that site.
I don't think that was important enough for the Tigers to keep, but who knows.

I have a concrete block house with a covered porch. I could put a couple bolts right into the concrete block and just remove and patch them if I decide to move.

Once my fiance and I move into our first house after the wedding, hopefully within a few months of the wedding, we're going to put the seats in the entryway of the house.
In the meantime, however, I'm not too sure where they'll go. If I can transport them pretty easily (mainly depending on if they'll fit in my car) we might put them in the entryway of my fiance's apartment.
It looks like the seats have some sort of bracket attached to them already, I'm hoping that'll help the seats remain standing on their own without having to bolt them down somewhere.
Once November hits I will be mobbing the UPS truck anytime I see it come by!

Is anybody else having trouble seeing the entire gallery of items being auctioned off? Yesterday and this morning I was able to go through the seperate pages with each individual item listed, but now I can only see a page that shows three random objects at a time.
It's happening when following this link:
http://www.bidspotter.com/forms/event.php?event=4716
EDIT:
Huh, now things are working fine for me. Maybe there was just a hiccup in the system earlier.

According to what I have seen on other websites that sell stadium seats, the brackets will indeed allow the seats to stand on their own. How stable they are when sitting down or getting up, I'm not sure.

Yeah, that's my biggest question. I'd think that if they aren't very stable with somebody sitting in them it could be possible to elongate the portion of the bracket that sits on the ground, to add more stability.

Just picked up (edit: err, bought) my seats!
I would love to also add the original seats from Briggs Stadium, but those are well over $1,000.

I know maxing out my 401k is the right thing to do, but this is one of those times I wish I had that extra money to splurge. Would really love to have a set of seats from Tiger Stadium.

Tape a bottle of perfume to one of them and a schmaltzy "now we're truly joined at the hip" card and call it her Christmas gift. You'd have to be a really good salesman to pull it off, but good luck!

Ahh, I wasn't going to consider this, but after reading everyone's excitement here, I'm getting charged up myself. And with shipping included, that's a good deal. I think I might actually put them outside on our backyard patio - drill them right into the garage.
As an aside, the auction portion is the most rinky-dink looking thing I've ever seen. Slow pages, bad descriptors. 28% buyer's premium!!

I'm wondering if the auction pages are running slow due to traffic loads.

I just finished an interview with the guy that is in charge of this whole thing. He's from St. Louis. He did Busch stadium when they tore it down...he had two weeks to dismantle the entire place.
Anyway, hes got some good stuff.

Sort of interesting how many of the large photographs for sale are only from the 1997 team. Wonder if they did similar murals for the 1998 and 1999 team and then took them out when moving from the stadium.

Are these the seats that were put in during the late 70's renovation?

Probably most are. I'd bet some might be newer, I'm sure that once and awhile they had to replace some of the older ones that got damaged.

I think it'd be pretty cool to own a pair of seats that were there to see the 1984 World Series, or Cecil Fielder's shot, or Todd Jones' final pitch.
I have the money, I have a good $600 in the bank. I just don't know...

I hope the seats I purchased are the orange ones. Those were my favorite from my childhood.
I also think that it would be cool to get a turnstile. I could use that as an entrance to my planned sports room a few years down the road. But I imagine that those will be quite expensive.
I'd also like to get my hands on one of those "refreshments" signs. There are a few of them, so I'm hoping the prices stay low.
This is pretty exciting.

Mine too, but they aren't included in the sale. The FAQ states they are the blue plastic seats. I've got my eyes on a couple smaller signs that I think will go for less than $500.

Do it. You don't want to be kicking yourself in a few years wishing you had gotten one when you had the chance.
Besides, you'll still have around $300 left, so it's not like you'll completely wipe out your account.

I'm sure they'll wind up selling for more than the current going price, but I would think that the prices will remain reasonally low- there are quite a few of them on the auction site.

Is there still a 28% premium for regular seats? Does that include shipping?

The cost listed for seats is what you pay, minus tax. Shipping is included in the cost listed. If you had bothered to read the FAQ and/or all the information listed on the page to buy a seat, you'd have known that.
I don't know why you'd want to buy a seat from Tiger Stadium, however. They lost a lot of games there over the years. Oh... wait... that's why. When you have them, you can remember all the times you were able to say, "The season is over," growing up.

The only tax/premium/etc. on the seats are the 6.00% Michigan sales tax.
Here's what a typical final total looks like:
Item Price: $279.00 USD
Sales Tax: $16.74 USD
Total: $295.74 USD

Thanks for classy post potthead.

Think I will get some seats. Maybe I'll invite my best friends potthole, Yoda and Tigercub over to sit in them and have some beers.

I'll bring my seats too, so can Yoda. We'll all sit around a campfire in them.

Yeah if Yoda and TigerCub come you probably would need to bring them... since I would only have two seats.
This way our beer can rest on the empty seats...

So let's get back on topic then.
Who's buying the urinal. I almost convinced my wife I was buying it but then she freaked out...I don't understand why, I mean who wouldn't want this in their house?

The strange thing is, I can visualize a bunch of "MotownSportsers" actually doing this. And it wouldn't surprise me if something like this actually happened.
We fans are a funny bunch.
