Default World Baseball Classic

Has anyone heard if these games will be broadcast on TV?
ESPN lists the games in Asia being broadcast on ESPN Desportes, but nothing else.

I have XM and I would guess they would be on there, but I would rather watch.

Nothing there that I could find. If it is there, it is hidden too well for these eyes.

I asked this yesterday and someone said the games will be on ESPN. I find it hard to believe that the games won't be nationally televised. They should be a lot of fun to watch. Especially that Dominican team.

Just saw on ESPN that Cuba is in !! The U.S. Department of Treasury has granted a permit to allow Cuba's entry into the WBC.

Possible players? I'm drawing a bit of a blank - Orlando Hernandez, Livan Hernandez, Roidy Palmeiro, um ...........

Barbaro Garbey for manager !!!!!

Does anyone know why Italy has a team? Honestly, is Italy the European hotbed for baseball?

Perhaps that choice was simply driven by demographics and the desire to draw attention from the Italian-American segment of the TV market ???

In other words, its a bunch of hooey? Are there any born-and-raised-in-Italy Italians on that team? And why are the Polish TV sets always ignored?

Found my answer: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/play...e.php?loc=Cuba

Tony Perez would be a great choice for manager !!
Jose Canceco for conditioning coach .....

How does the tourney work? How many games does a team play to win in one round and make it to the next? How many games could the championship team play to win it all?

I have no problem with them mostly being Italian American's. Being of Italian ancestry myself, it is team of a group of people like me. I now have 2 rooting interests.

After much consideration, the only thing I'm really rooting for in the WBC is that no one gets hurt.

Actually I hope a star gets hurt (non-Tiger) so the MLB teams and and the Union won't be railroaded into participation by Selig. I think this preseason tournament is an absolute joke.

Tickets went on sale today. Anyone else pick some up.

I got a couple of Round 2 games in Anaheim. USA vs. Japan or Korea and a late afternoon game with USA vs. Canada or Mexico.

The tix were a little pricey ($54 with all of the ticketmaster bs tied in) but my seats are sweet. 20 rows back between 3rd base and home.
