I don't even care one way or the other about the hotdog guy, but it's virtually impossible to listen to hundreds of games and never hear him (unless you turn down the sound because you don't want to listen to Allen).

I think it's really easy to miss him if you're used to listening to the Tigers and don't care about him, I know I've heard him plenty of times but it's just part of the background noise, like a drunk fan heckling the ump, it doesn't stand out.

Does anyone know how he is able to sing throughout the game now when back in 2004 the compromise was to only let him sing during a certain part of the game? Did the Tigers just back off and let him go back to signing throughout the game?
I hear him singing every game that I watch on TV and sat in one of his sections last year. The singing is noticeable but doesn't bother me. If I sat in his section on a regular basis it would probably bother me. My buddy, who is a Yankees fan living in Michigan, was watching the Tigers/Yankees game on TV and asked me who the guy was who sang opera throughout the game. So, he didn't even know about Charley but heard his singing on TV. He even said the YES broadcasters were saying how the singing was annoying to them since they could hear it up in the press box while calling the game. He said at certain parts of the game the YES announcers would stop talking because they thought it was pointless to try to talk over Charley while he was in the middle of a song.
Charley seems to be the most polarizing guy at Comerica Park since Brandon Inge

I'm going to apply for a job at the Detroit Opera House and walk up and down the aisles during the Barber of Seville hitting fungoes.

It's like watching a Mariners' game. You are going to hear the train a few times a game - you are going to hear the hotdog guy at Comerica Park.

Sorry, didn't hear him today. I think it's a case of if you know what to listen for, you might hear him, but if not, then it's just part of the white noise of the crowd. The only thing I've heard outside of just the usual drawl of the crowd is if there's some drunk guy sitting right behind the plate yelling stuff.

Heard and saw him on both games I went to on Friday and Saturday. Was right next to him on the Friday. I personally really like it. Part of the background, and part of the quaint things you get in traditional sports. I'm glad people dislike him, it makes his character even better, imo. Could of sworn I heard him over the radion when I was listening to the game in the car on my way out of Detroit.

They were selling mustard with his name and face on it in one of the shops at CoPa some years ago. I didn't see it this year when i was in Detroit for some games. But i have one at home. Never opened the bottle. So i actually can't tell you if it's any good or not.
Does mustard has an expiry date? hmm...

I wonder if Delmon Young ever hears the hotdog vendor.
