I like conservative designs for the core Topps set and this fits the bill. Not as nice as '11, but I'd rate it comparable to '10 and '12. The little home plate and field on the bottom left (if that's what it is), made me think of the Donruss logo. At least on the red Nationals card; I'm sure the Tigers will be blue (hopefully) or orange.

The little plate and field are really growing on me - if the Tigers' field and border are blue, I think that's going to really look good and vault it well past '10 and '12 and maybe reach the 2011 level. That's nice relevant creativity which is absent on '10 and '12.

That's exactly what I just came back on to post about - it sure does look like Bowman.
I found the Fielder pic on the link below. They've also added a pic of the Verlander gold and a bunch of other parallels, autos, etc.

Hobby shop release date is 1/30, but retail for Series 1 usually hits the shelves early, sometimes by more than a week, so it's almost time to start looking.
Finally the full checklist is out and there are lots of Tigers, with Garcia's RC the highlight. Maybe there will be surprises like a Hunter Tiger card, but it appears we'll have to wait for Series 2 (or maybe Heritage and the factory team set). No mention of a Cabrera Triple Crown base card, but perhaps one of the "Detroit Tigers" cards will be a checklist with Miggy/TC on the front, like they've done with some other recent milestones (Jeter, Rivera, etc). It's interesting that Fielder, Verlander and Scherzer have card numbers that match their uniform numbers, as do other players in the single and double-digits.
For rookie collectors, Dylan Bundy (Orioles), Jurickson Profar (Rangers) and Manny Machado (Orioles) head the list. Card #7 is missing, and that's usually Mickey Mantle, so we'll see what happens there. There is a card #331, so maybe #7 has been retired - Series 1 is usually 330 cards.
The link below also has the inserts, including a 10-card Cabrera Triple Crown relic set.
28 Prince Fielder
35 Justin Verlander
37 Max Scherzer
42 Detroit Tigers
94 Justin Verlander / David Price / Jered Weaver
121 Delmon Young
153 Miguel Cabrera / Josh Hamilton / Curtis Granderson
179 Detroit Tigers
194 Edwin Encarnacion / Miguel Cabrera / Josh Hamilton
199 Avisail Garcia
220 Octavio Dotel
239 Ramon Santiago
258 Doug Fister
294 Mike Trout / Adrian Beltre / Miguel Cabrera
327 Jhonny Peralta
330 Ryan Raburn

Keith Olberman is posting a bunch of great pics of Series 1 via his twitter feed - apparently he gets to open the 1st ceremonial pack/box.

Singles are hitting eBay now, including some Target red parallels, so it's off to the races - I'm going to try to get over there later today. The Avisail Garcia RC looks really nice.

Well, I stopped at Target and near the sportscards was a sealed box that said "New Release" on the side. No one was around to help so I helped them unseal the box and low and behold, I am soon paying for some 2013 Topps! Nothing great except a cool die cut card of Ryne Sandberg for the better half!

Cool, it's always nice to beat the pack-searchers! I stopped by Target and Walmart over here, but they didn't have them yet.

So far I have a Justin Verlander, and the Verlander ERA leaders card plus the ALDS card. Slow start for me Tiger wise but a lot of cool inserts including a Jeter die cut card, a Profar rookie with the green hologram backing and a Skaggs rookie.

It doesn't appear that the Tigers have a photo variation SP ("out of bounds") in Series 1. If anyone knows otherwise, please post it. The Raburn card looks like one, but it's just a regular base card.
I just picked up multiples of all the Tigers and the rookies/stars at a card show. These sure do have a Bowman feel (not a good thing), especially the blue teams like the Tigers, Cubs and Yankees.2013 AAT: Eugenio Suarez - SS

Very cool indeed - 20 cards per game is a nice big quantity for a promotion. I wonder how Topps got around the regulation of players having to appear in an MLB game before getting on an MLB card (Soler/Almora/Baez). Strange if it's just a Cubs promo - maybe the rest of the teams will do it, too.
