2010 Topps Opening Day
Opening Day is back after taking last year off. I hope, like in '08, that the cards are considerably different than the regular set. OD is such a great value for satisfying pack opening fixes.
I haven't searched for a Tiger checklist yet. This listing gives a 2/15 release date.

Was that Granderson a Tiger? The Opening Day scan I saw had Granderson as a Yankee, vertical, but with the same short-print photo that they use in Series 1.

Yahoo, Scherzer on a Tiger card!!! I had forgotten all about the OD release. Now I just have to find them. I ran by one of my Targets last night but no luck. Maybe the one over here by work will have them today.
Any confirmation on the Huff really being a Tiger? Would be nice if they could switch that one for a new Tiger, too. I'm disappointed that the design isn't different from the regular release (like it was in '08) and the photos look the same so far, but kudos to Topps for updating some of these guys. And if the pack price is still 99 cents like in previous years, it's all good.
OD and next month's Debut release are nice bridges to S2.
I see they didn't update Max's number (he's #37 with us), but I supposed the new players' numbers hadn't been published by the time they had to go to production with the cards.Last edited by Los Gatos; 02-22-2010 at 11:02 AM.

Just searched around eBay and saw there's a blue parallel, I guess a la the white parallel from '08. OD's version of gold.

I picked up some packs this evening. The Tigers have been pretty scarce - so far I've pulled Cabrera and PAWS. They got a lot of guys in their new uniforms - I have Edwin, Halladay, Matsui and Harden so far. The inserts are actually pretty cool. The ToppsTown especially, though they'd really be great if the code was on the back. 2 blue parallels so far, numbered to 2010, and they have the opening day date on the front. 99 cents for 7 cards. No gum this year - I believe they had it in '08.

I grabbed a few packs at Meijer today. The Tiger count was low, but I am curious about one pack.
I pulled a printing press card. It's labeled as 1 of 1... Dan Murphy of the Mets.
You guys seem to know your stuff about card packs. I'm not sure what it's worth.
I can't find any of these on e-bay..
It's too bad I didn't get a star, but maybe a Mets fan would like to have it.True to the Honolulu Blue

The printing plates come up on eBay pretty often. Topps does a 1/1 for each color that goes into making the card. Just do a search for something like "Topps 1/1 plate". To see what they're actually selling for, do the search on Completed Listings. Here's the Porcello Opening Day yellow plate:

If you're on any message boards or forums where you can trade cards, you can probably get more for it from a Mets fan than you would on eBay, where it will probably only fetch a few bucks. Still, the cards are neat and rare and Murphy is young with upside, so you might get a bit of an escalation there.
