JULY 2012 SUCCESSES

WILLIE HORTON signed my original 1968 Tasco Associates color poster of Horton at the WhiteCaps game tonight.

I could have gotten another autograph, but it was not worth standing in 100 degree heat for another 1 1/2 hours for it, especially since I got three autographs from him this spring on higher priority items.

Large turnout tonight, especially considering the heat. Hopefully the crowds will be less (and the temperature lower) for upcoming autograph sessions with Jon Warden (July 20), Howard Johnson (August 3) and Roy Face (Aug. 24).

Jose Valverde 2012 Topps & Brayan Villerreal on ticket.

They live in the hotel we were staying at and we had the pleasure of meeting both of them Friday night. Luckily, my son couldn't "hold it" to wait for the elevator and was tipped off by a valet that Valverde was pulling up to the hotel. He waited in the lobby and got his picture taken with him! My son now has a great Tigers memory and a new favorite Tiger.

They were on their way out for the evening, so we didn't want to bother them, but they were both gracious enough to sign an auto for each of us before they left.

All of the cards in my 2012 Whitecaps Team Set have been signed. About 2 weeks ago I mailed out the cards of players I needed to get signed. I sent them to the affiliate they had been sent to before the cards came out or before I could get them signed. They all came back signed and in great shape.

Thanks to those I contacted at Lakeland and Connecticut.

In the past several days I have been getting various books signed by Tigers that played on World Championship teams:

BARBERO GARBEY: Signed several books with photos of the '84 Team. Also 2 photos for my friend Bill.
JON WARDEN: Signed 4 Tiger books, a "Living Card" and two photos, with the help of two friends. Two of the items were also for my friend.
JIM PRICE: My wife helped me get four Tiger books signed by this '68 player. He said that he is feeling much better recently.
DAN DICKERSON: 2012 Tiger Yearbook

I also had two items for Rod Allen to sign, but he did not show up at his normal spot.

More important, we had great seats at today's Tiger game, the outcome of which I enjoyed a lot! I think Austin Jackson has an incredible future; in this game he had two key hits. Now we are in first place!
