I think the Pistons are done and doubt we see any more trades.
I think they value the cap space their expiring contracts give more than anything they can get back for them.VT

Personally I think it's crazy that Bynum hasn't been snatched up by a contender. He's playing really well an has an expiring contract. It's a can't lose situation for and OKC or Boston or even Memphis. And if we turn down anything like a first round pick or former 1st round pick (PJ3 or Lamb) we're crazy.

Well, I get the feeling OKC is looking to make a bigger splash than Bynum. And they will use PJIII in that bigger trade. So if anything were to happen with OKC-DET I would expect it to be very last minute after OKC exhausted all other options.

That makes a lot of sense, I don't disagree. I'll be curious to see what they do. They miss Harden. They are a 2 star team instead of a 3 star team now. Ibaka is not a #3 and neither is Martin and they lack someone else to run the offense when Westbrook can't or needs a break.

for fun
I submitted my trade
Pistons get Pau Gasol, Perry Jones, Lakers get Lamb, JJ, Maxiell, and Magette, OKC gets Bynum
OKC, probably isn't getting enough here but oh wellTigerbrand coffee is a real treat, even tigers prefer it to real meat.

Take Lamb out of the deal and do nothing else and its not too bad. I think LA would be happy to dump the salary for the most part and then OKC isn't getting ripped off like crazy.

OKC needs to lose a little more salary otherwise it doesnt work...

I'm comfortable signing him at that price.Speaking of Calderon, a former league exec told me over the weekend that he can command a contract at 7 mill per. #PistonsVT

I think their #1 goal should be moving Monroe. But I wouldn't do it till this summer. See what the draft and free agency nets them and then use Monroe to fill the gaps.

I'd replace Monroe with Anthony Bennett any day of the week.

I don't mind trading Monroe but I think it is going to be hard to get equal value for him...and I am saying this knowing I have been more critical of him than others this year. I think our best bet is still to hope he develops a jump shot and learns to finish more with his right hand.

I say keep Monroe. If Drummond keeps it up, there aren't many teams that can match up with that kind of size up front. I'd need to feel like I was clearly winning the deal to trade Monroe.

This is how I feel about it as well.
PG - I'd give Calderon a respectable offer as a vet PG to help this team gel for a few years while the young guys learn the ropes and we bring up a PG behind him from the draft.
SG/SF - We need a legitimate scorer at the SG/SF position to take the next step and make the lives of Drummond and Monroe much easier. You won't get it in free agency because no star is coming here of their own free will unless we can get them here already on a contract and then attempt to re-sign them. I'd be looking to move Stuckey, Jerebko, and some expiring contracts to make that happen. I'd even be willing to use BK in a deal to make that happen before moving Monroe.
PF/C - I'd like to see a full season of Monroe and Drummond starting in the front court with a passing guard like Calderon at the point and a legitimate scorer at the 2/3. I'd keep the two bigs and try to find a veteran big for the rotation behind them.
I just feel like sitting on this cap space and trusting in Joe to lure a star here is a bad idea. I said the same thing back when we got Iverson and look what Joe did that time...Matt Millen never left Detroit - he just started wearing a very convincing Joe Dumars costume.

The only way you trade Monroe is if you get equal or better value at a position of need. It's silly just to say, "we should trade Monroe because he's the only one anyone would want". Trading him for a couple of lesser players or even a draft pick would not be addition by subtraction, it would just be subtraction. So unless you can name a valid trade option why even say it. Guys like Monroe don't get traded because players as good as Monroe aren't available on the trade market unless they're malcontents and then you don't trade equal value for those players. Maybe in 2014 we can offer him up to Miami for Lebron when they're trying to get under the luxury tax...otherwise, it's a waste of time to suggest.
Seriously, for all the bagging on him as being a disappointment, he's one of 7 players in the league averaging better than 9 rebounds and 16 pts a game...he's not quite the liablity he's made out to be by some in hereTigerbrand coffee is a real treat, even tigers prefer it to real meat.

I never said these things were likely to happen, I just think it is going to be hard to get good value for him and my feeling is our best pay off would be Monroe developing rather than the value he would bring back in a trade. I am definitely fine shopping him around. Every player on the team can be had for the right price.

Personally, I think Monroe's numbers are a little deceiving. He has the third highest usage rate among centers...the Pistons don't have many options and run a lot of their offense thru Monroe. There is value to what he brings but I do not think numbers tell the whole story with him.

If Monroe was some sort of shot jacker, I might agree, but the guy barely takes 13 shots a game. If anything the criticism is that he needs to take more.
