Gotta keep a talented team like this together as long as possible, great job Dumars.
-
Is it possible the only new face on this year's team will be Brandon Knight? If so is it possible that we might be the worst team in the Eastern Conference?

Thats actually pretty good for Jerebko. I was thinking more around $5M a year. His injury probably saved the Pistons a lot of money.

Sweet deal on Jerebko. That's a solid price even if he doesn't improve one bit from what we saw before his injury.
Matt Millen never left Detroit - he just started wearing a very convincing Joe Dumars costume.

So what does the roster look like?
Starters:
G Ben Gordon (6'3")
G Rodney Stuckey (6'5")
F Tayshaun Prince (6'9")
F Jonas Jerebko (6'10")
C Greg Monroe (6'11")
Off the bench:
G Will Bynum
G Brandon Knight
F Charlie Villanueva
F Austin Daye
F Jason Maxiell
C Ben Wallace
Is Chris Wilcox still on the team? The starters don't look too bad. Off chance for a 30 win team (30-36)?

Well, it doesn't sound like Stuckey will be back...just check out his Twitter. What an *******. Oh well, would have just been another large contract for us...
Hope this is the lineup:
PG Brandon Knight
SG Ben Gordon
SF Tayshaun Prince
PF Jonas Jerebko
C Greg Monroe
If BG has a nice first half, we could probably find a trade partner.Adopt-A-Lion: Calvin Johnson - Broke Jerry Rice's single season receiving record

Defintely suspicious, but it was retweeted by Vince Goodwill, so Vince should know if it is real or not. I imagine he's in the know on stuff like that

What was said on his twitter (if it was him)? I do not have a account and don't really care to create one.

Just found it here:
Unverified Rodney Stuckey twitter account tweets about wanting out of Detroit « PistonPowered
Honestly, I do not have any hard feelings if that is him. He is only speaking his mind and not really bad mouthing the Pistons. He just wants out from a team that is clearly still a long ways from winning. Can we do a sign and trade with him? The return does not have to be that great...just something decent so we don't lose him for nothing.

I really, really hope it is his account. Whatever gets the Pistons to let him go will make me a happy man. If both Stuckey and Rip are gone, I'll consider it a successful off-season. If only we could find a way to add CV to the mix as well.

PISTONS: Pistons Sign Guard-Forward Damien Wilkins
Another body for the bench.AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons announced today that they have signed guard-forward Damien Wilkins. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Just filed to ESPN: Pistons & restricted FA Rodney Stuckey at an impasse. Stuckey balking at Pistons' 5 year, $40-45 million offer
Hey Stuckey, take a hike buddy.

Told ya he is gonna get paid.
@chadfordinsider
Stuckey's reps have contacted a couple of teams about sign-and-trades. Very unlikely Pistons will agree to one. They want to keep him.Stuckey's people threatening to take Pistons' 1 year qualifying offer. If they do, he's an unrestricted FA in summer of 2012.VT

How can Dumars honestly believe paying Stuckey $10M a year for 4 years is a good move?

Stuckey is justified in asking for this kind of money. I don't think he's worth that kind of money to the Pistons though, and I really don't understand how Dumars is trying to build this roster. It's as if he is satisfied having the Pistons be stuck in NBA purgatory.

The Pistons should hope he signs for the 1 year qualifying offer, which I believe is only $3.8 million or so. Stuckey will play hard this year in order to get a big payday in the summer. If he plays well, good for us in 2011-12 and maybe we enter the FA market to keep him...if he plays lousy or sulks, let him go at the end of the season. Seems like a win-win to me to push Stuckey in the direction to sign the qualifying offer.

A sign and trade generally means the team has no cap space to sign him, so they have to trade some players off their cap for him. That means we have all the leverage to say, give us X or we won't help you out.
I would probably not go over 5/40-45, but the market rate is pretty high I suppose.

Actually, I don't think that is true. Most sign and trades happen after a player is signed to an offer sheet. Then the two teams worked out a deal so the player could get an extra year and bigger raises by signing with his original team. Now that motivation is gone because they took it out in the new CBA. Because they signed him to an offer sheet, that means they have the cap room to make the deal without a S&T.
