Board in same mode as Pistons
It seems with the lack of posts recently that this message board is in playoff mode also. I guess the Pistons aren't the only ones ready for the regular season to end.
Matt Millen never left Detroit - he just started wearing a very convincing Joe Dumars costume.

I'm actually looking forward to the game tonight. Three reasons: 1) There have been some good, new trends developing...Rip and Rasheed (would that be R Squared) are beginning to assert themselves. 2) The Free Press of News talked about Carlos Squared being in the dog house today. Brown seems to think he can go with McDyess, Hunter and Ham in the playoffs if they don't step up. 3) And finally, there was another hint that they might go with McDyess, Rasheed and Ben more often. Now that makes things interesting.
Between Rasheed being more assertive, Rip's new found leadership in assists and the possibility of the three big guys on the floor together I'm liking what may be the playoff look.

I have grown tired of this team, and like I just posted, I think they could easily get beat in either the first or second round.
I feel, in these playoffs...we'll be the Lakers of last year, and someone will be for us...the Pistons of last year - beating us.

I would give my left arm for the playoffs to start tonight. I usually enjoy the regular season, but this one is getting old fast.
There has been no flow or rhythm to this season. First Brown is out with surgery, then Ben misses two games for his brothers funeral, then the brawl and suspensions. Then the team doesnt play that great, then more surgery for Brown. Well, you guys know the story.
Its odd, last year the team was on a much better roll heading into the playoffs and I had a lot of concerns about them. This year, they are kind of backing into the playoffs and I have great confidence in them.VT

This might stem from the fact that for most of the season - THEY SUCKED!There has been no flow or rhythm to this season

Well no, I am guessing it stems from the reasons I listed above.Originally posted by JonBenke

I find it interesting that you feel the #2 seed in the East sucks. I find it kind of baffling to be honest. Are they playing their best basketball? No, but they hardly suck.
Truth is, they will be the #2 seed and favored against everyone except Miami probably. I think they would also be favored against anyone in the West that isnt San Antonio (With Duncan).
I know Jon, if they had played Darko more they would be 82-0 and fire off 16 straight wins in the playoffs to claim their second title in a row

What a fan. If the Piston train starts rolling, Jon, we aren't letting you onOriginally posted by JonBenke
I have grown tired of this team...
I'm with DKool, the crack head, the Pistons have been out of sync all season. There was the Championship hangover for starters and then the long list of disruptions, not the least of which was dealing with some major turnover on the bench. (No Corliss, no Memo, no James.)
If they were having Miami's season I think we might be just as bored...once you have a taste of the trophy, the rest is just going through the motions. Well, that's if you don't have a Thomas, a Bird or a Jordan who just hated losing no matter what the competition.

Don't be so fast to say we're backing into the play-offs. No, we didn't have the insane 2nd half that we had last year, but we still have a chance to go into the play-offs on a high note. We've won 4 straight, have a big game against Miami coming up that will be on ESPN btw(took the Lakers spot since they SooooooK) and still have a chance to go into the post season feeling pretty damn good about ourselves. Don't forget that the losses we had recently were without LB and Rip for the most part. You guys have to get off this gloom and doom kick you're on. Our bench may not have the depth that it had last year, but our starting 5 is playing better this year(when they're on). Rip has fallen right back into the same form he had at the end of last season when he was buying into that team concept, Tay is going to be a monster in the play-offs I have no doubt about it(look at how he's turned his game up in the last two post-seasons, imagine what he's gonna be like when he turns his game up this post-season), Ben and Sheed have been solid, and C-Note is his consistent self lately. There's no doubt we'll be in the ECF and I'm still predicting another championship. We've had some hard times and every time we've come out of them strong. I'm excited for the last few games of the RS so that we can get some good momentum going into the playoffs. Once the playoffs are here this team is going to rout their first opponent(please let it be Indy) and it's gonna be a thing of beauty.

I haven't posted in a while, cause I had trouble getting on to this site for some reason, maybe it had something to do with my work. For a Pistons fan to say that they have grown tired of this team is just ridiculous, obviously not a true fan. They'll be fine goin in the playoffs, this team knows how to win when it has to. The main thing is health, if they can stay healthy they will be fine.
Practice! Practice! Were talking about practice!

Minus football, all sports seasons are far too long IMO. College basketball is perfect. Two games a week, 30 games a year, perfect. All games are important.
I understand pro leagues can't do that because of revenue, but the season is still getting to be a bore. Maybe if they were in the race for #1 seed or something it would perk it up.VT

I have grown tired of this teamEvery time you play a hand of you poker you wanna run through a mental check list. Head Position Hand Position Neck Position Breathing Posture. More than 25 items. It's a lot. And that why I've come up with a handy mnemonic device. Just one word: HPHPNPBPECMSPAMDCPAFTSTTL. It's easy.

I think its amazing how much different the style of play is when brown is on the bench. Every time I hear a different rumor of him leaving the pistons, i get dissapointed, but I also have to know that most of those rumors are based upon his past.
As for the end of the year, the only thing im looking forward to is that they reach the plateau of 50 wins, especially with the ups and downs they had this year, that would still be a sign of success, and hopefully carry some momentum into the playoffs.
Speaking of playoffs, I disagree of them possibly getting sent home in the 1st or 2nd round. A big trend this year has been losing to teams that your supposed to blow out, and showing up for all the compettitive games. I think they have the style of basketball to make it back to the finals, if they let larry captain the ship again.

Why have you grown tired of them? I get frustrated when they play bad as well but looking at their record right now I think it is a miracle cinsidering all the crap they have been through this year. They are getting things rolling again, they will be fine. I was wondering who you think could easily beat us in the first or second round. Cleveland? Phili? Orlando? That is a pretty lame *** statement on your part, way to think it through.Originally posted by JonBenke

Speaking of crack heads, I find it funny that after one championship that some Pistons fans, ie Benke, have already turned into Wings fans. How can you say locking up second place in the conference sucking. I honestly would like to know what you consider an average season, better yet, what do you consider being a good regular season. Maybe if they won every single game this year it would have kept you satisfied.Originally posted by JonBenke

Re: Board in same mode as Pistons
Hey now, I was out of town for a few days, but I'll definitely be back to post about my beloved Pistons. We still have a lot to play for, and we need for the Bulls to lose and for Indiana to play there way to the sixth playoff spot. Not that I think they'll beat us in a five game series, but I'd like to see us have more of a cakewalk in the first round than an emotionally charged Pacer club Rick Carslyle and Jermaine O'Neal.Originally posted by Betrayer
