Stafford snubbed for Pro Bowl by Eli Manning?!
What a joke this is. Stafford has better numbers across the board and his team has a better record. Absolute joke.
Suh, Delmas, and Stafford are alternates with Calvin being the only Lion to make the team. How does Cliff Avril not get a sniff of this either with the year he had?2011 AAL: Corey Williams 2012 AAT: Head Athletic Trainer Kevin Rand

Manning:

It is a bad snub, but the way the pro bowl is, I just dn't care.
The only thing that matters about the game anymore is the title. "Pro Bowl QB Matthew Stafford".
I'd rather him take the time to rest up for the 2012 campaign than risk potential injury in a 100% meaningless football game.
The Pro Bowl is a COMPLETE joke.

Thankfully, I think most of our players, Stafford included, are far more focused on what they might accomplish in the playoffs than whether or not they might make the Pro Bowl. Their coaches know how good they are, and everyone else is beginning to figure it out. I'll take playoff wins over recognition for individuals any day.
But yeah, Stafford > Manning. My brother-in-law, a diehard Giants fan, just told me today that should they face us in the first round, he expects that we'd blow through them. :)"Sooner or later, #69 will be in your face." - Al Michaels, 12/6/09

I hope we play the Giants too... I think it goes
1. Giants
2. Cowboys
3. 49ers
4. Saints

Its a joke, but if we dont make the Super Bowl I think he still plays, I think Rodgers or Brees will be playing in the Super Bowl. Stafford will probably be the replacement (or he should be at least).
The second biggest joke about the pro bowl selection, is that NFL.com wrote a story about why Tebow didn't make the pro bowl....DUH, because he sucks2010 AAL Louis Delmas - 84 tackles 2 sacks 2 FF - Pro Bowl Alternate

Who cares? All I care about is if the team wins or loses. Stafford is 23 and he will get his due respect soon.

Winning playoff games is far more important and would mean much more. With the Lions getting a lot of monkeys off their back in the last two years, I was hoping to add the "no pro bowl QB in however many years" to the list and in all liklihood he will play in the game.
But the overall game is a big joke and probably the worst all star game by far.2011 AAL: Corey Williams 2012 AAT: Head Athletic Trainer Kevin Rand

Im sure the players care. The term being a pro bowler means more than them actually playing in the games. And considering the Lions havent had a pro bowl qb in so long, it should have ended this year.
Also means bonus money for a lot of the players.
And when a player retires and he is up for the Hall of Fame, im sure at least a few people will look at how many times they made the pro bowl2010 AAL Louis Delmas - 84 tackles 2 sacks 2 FF - Pro Bowl Alternate

Here is what I love about the consensus among NFL analysists...
Aaron Rodgers is 28 years old
Drew Brees is 32 years old
Eli Manning is 30 years
Matthew Stafford is only 23 years old... That's crazy... This kid has his career ahead of him.Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's just that yours is stupid.

Can anyone confirm that Stafford is the second alternate behind Cam Newton?
This is not going to matter anyway as the Lions will have an important game in Indy that they will be playing in so they won't be able to play in Pro Bowl.

I am surprised that anyone cares about the NFL Probowl. I mean really, who really watches that with any rooting interest? It's at the end of the season after the Super Bowl. It's like someone offering a Tootsie Roll after you've just ate a banana split.
Show of hands, if there were no Lions in the Probowl would you really plan a Sunday around watching this game?

Yeah it is BS that he was left off but not surprised one bit. Eli has the name and plays in NY so of course he will get the nod. Not like they can say his numbers or what he has done for his team make a case for him going either.

Maybe look at this as a positive. Maybe this gives Matthew something to prove. Maybe this puts a chip on his shoulders. Yes, at 23 he is better than Eli Manning has ever been. Wouldn't you love to see him go prove it in NYC on January 7th or 8th ?

I'd love for him to prove it in NYC on the 7th or 8th... And then in Green Bay or New Orleans or San Francisco on the 14th or 15th... And then in Green Bay or New Orleans or San Francisco on the 22nd... And then in Indianapolis on February 5th.... Manning can state his case on January 29th though.

It was always after the Super Bowl, & always in Hawaii. A year or 2 ago they decided to move it to the Sunday between the conference title games & Super Bowl & alternate it in different venues. Somehow this was supposed to make players want to participate more, which is stupid because no team in the Super Bowll is gonna let their players play a week before & risk injury.

For me, the worst part of the Stafford snubbing is that I am willing to bet at some date in the future someone on the message board will argue something in favor of Matthew and someone else will respond he isn't that good and cite the lack of Pro Bowls as support.
I don't feel very much like a tiger. Maybe I am a vicious *** koala bear. Did you ever investigate that?

Seriously, why even have the Pro Bowl, name the team of pro bowlers, but don't play a game, no wants to be there and no wants to watch it.

The only all star game worth even mentioning is baseball. The pro bowl gets 12 viewers.

Let him get snubbed. Keeps him from getting injured. I don't care. He's good. We know that.

Meh....not a huge fan of individual awards in football....especially when the system is so arbitrary...Elli plays in NY...that is why he got in..no use getting upset over it....it is just how it is.
Just another reason to dislike the bias when it comes to sports and the larger market teams."Yeah You're right man...that is enough."

I do not think I have ever watched the pro bowl.....get rid of the game ALL together and completely revamp what they do...they still have to have something, but make it a weekend long skills competition with some value like bonuses for the winners etc. The game itself is so meaningless....the obvious reasons with the injuries in a pointless game are not even the main reasons the game sucks....it just does.
Maybe change the date of it and make it a competition with the upcomming draft picks and the top nfl guys....incorporate the combine with it maybe....something to make it exciting....it is a truly horrid event for the supposed 'king of sports'."Yeah You're right man...that is enough."

I can say for certain I have never seen more than two plays consecutively in any Pro Bowl. If I see it at all, it's by accident while changing channels.

Have Mayhew come as the GM and watch the game from the front office. That's the only key Lion I want "participating" in this game. Time to give the guy the credit he has coming.

I know Stafford's time will come but when you compare number for this season, which is what the pro bowl is supposed to be for, he should be there. Granted he will be there barring the Lions being in the Super Bowl but I just can't see anything to put Manning or Romo ahead of him
