PLAYOFFS BABY!!!!!
I don't care who we play, I only care the Lions are LEGITIMATE again! Beating the crap out of the hottest team in the NFL tells me the Lions can match up against ANYONE with NO FEAR!
Two weeks from now cannot come soon enough!

Right now it will be either the Saints, Cowboys, or Giants... Saints if we finish 6th, and the NFC East winner if we finish 5th.

I admit to being a fairweather fan, my Sunday is not made or ruined by what they do. However I'm incredibly happy for the die hards out there. I know the feeling and this is a special day. I got goosebumps just being a casual fan when I saw them messing with the gatarade tub. My Tiger season ticket buddy called me tonight, he's had LIons tickets since the 80's and I think the old man had been crying. I always ask him if he's a bigger Tiger or Lions fan and he cannot answer so I know how much it means to him and to other fans out there.

Congratulations, Lions fans.

I love it! I watched every game back then, but I do not really even remember the playoffs in 1999. I will remember this playoff game no matter how it shakes out. The season is already a success and was a success IMO after the win 2 weeks ago making us a winning program for the first time in what feels like forever.
Everything from here on out is TOTAL gravy this year.
7th ranked on profootballtalk.com...in the league! Amazing how far we have come in such a short time.

I remember the 95 playoff game (Getting killed in Philly) more than 99. I was to young in 91 to enjoy the team's run to the NFC championship game, so I am very excited to see them finally make the playoffs! Just three years removed from 0-16, Mayhew and company have done an excellent job.

Many of us thought this GB game was going to be a must win just to make the playoffs. And we were hoping GB would have HFA wrapped up so they would rest the starters.
That being said, here's a radical thought. Maybe the LIONS should rest some players, especially if we have a big lead. We play the next week, in the playoffs (YEAH) while GB is off.
I sure would hate to have several injuries in a game that's not an absolute must win. Yes, a win and we play Dallas or N.Y., but we would also play them if Tampa can pull off an upset against Atlanta. Unlikely, but you never know. And I just want us to be healthy going into the playoffs for the 1st time in many, many years.

I say Cowboys, Giants and then the 49ers. Romo is hurting and we already beat Dallas. Of course, it would be sweet to play the Giants and watch Stafford outplay the All-Pro Manning. And a rematch against the 49ers would be a good game, hopefully with different results.
Being the 5th seed would help the Lions. I would hate having to beat New Orleans, San Francisco AND Green Bay. Hopefully there's an upset to make our road easier. Of course, if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.
The Lions aren't quite there yet but I could see them making some noise in the playoffs. It's pretty sweet that we play our best at the end of the season. Remember, we had a 4 game winning streak to end last season. An 8 game streak to end this year would have all of long time suffering Lions fans freaking out with happiness.

Oh, I know. Getting the 5th seed may enable us to win a playoff game. But my point was that many of us saw this Green Bay game as a must win game and we hoped GB would rest most of their starters. But we're in, no matter what happens Sunday. So, if they wanted to, WE could actually rest players. Many of us never saw that option several weeks ago. But winning is important as long as there are no injuries to several key players. We really need to stop the run against GB and let their backup QB try to beat us. That would probably lead to a Lions blow out win.

Winning the Super Bowl will probably be easier than getting there this year.

well, we could not even beat a GB team without their best players! Atl beat the crap out of Tampa and we get 6th seed and face the Saints who blew out Carolina..hmmmmm it may sound good getting to the playoffs, but Breez will probably toast the Lions..

The Packers weren't resting all their players. They were still playing their top receivers all game. They were still playing their top RB the whole game. The Lions torched the Packers defense. They were beat by their backup QB who played a very good game in his last start against New England. Even Brees can't throw much better than Flynn did today.

I got 25.00 at 25-1 on the Lions winning the super bowl and 50.00 at 18-1 for the Lions to win the NFC....nice pay days if it happens.
I had a free play (bonus for signing up) 7 team parlay this weekend...I hit 5 and if San Fran doesnt let St Louis score that TD and the Texans do not score that last second (14 seconds left) TD in that game I am sitting on 2500.00 risking nothing!"Yeah You're right man...that is enough."

There was not a nothe rplayer in the league who plays the game that good....he had the best stastical game in the history of GB....better than Rodgers, better than Favre...the Defense didnt have a good game, but some of those throws Flynn made were REALLY good...I will go out on a limb and say if Rodgers would have started we probably win that game. Flynn just had one of those games.

I am kind of waiting on a game thread to post some stuff about the Lions in the playoffs, but where the hell is it? I am tempted to make it myself...we need to get some analysis going on this game....single most important game for this team in more than 10 years.
I want to break it all down, but again want to wait for a game thread. Not sure how long I can wait..."Yeah You're right man...that is enough."

I believe Shinma is still having laptop problems, which is why week 16 didn't have any graphics in the OP and week 17 was made only 2 hours before the game by T&P Fan... I'd say give him another 24 hours (until Wednesday afternoon) and if there still isn't one up either you or I can make one... Anyone else who would like to contribute graphics could just comment in the thread.
