anyone wanna take this bet?
So my good friend is a Raiders fan and we have a bet on who is going to finish closer to .500
I have to be a homer and pick my Lions but he is hell bent on the Raiders finishing with a better record.
my Question is
Is anyone man(or woman) enough to pick the Lions to win 8 games?

No, but I think they will be better than the Raiders.

So, the bet is closer to .500?
What if the Lions go 15-1 and the Raiders go 7-9? The Lions have the better record, but the Raiders are closer to .500.
By no means will that happen, but just trying to grasp the parameters of the bet.

I have no problem saying Detroit will be a better team than Oakland next year.
I am not sure Detroit will have a better record though. The NFC North is significantly better than the AFC West.

I try to steer away from bets like this. I don't like making bets based on my favorite teams.

What if they have the exact same record? Do you go tiebreakers?

Anyone how picks the Lions to win EIGHT games in 2009 isn't a man or a woman (per say), but is someone who doesn't know football. I'll take that bet all day long.

Anyone who doesn't the like Lions can win eight games based purely on their franchise history and performance last year doesn't understand football.

Oakland has far more talent, if they have any offensive production they will be the better team.

Any team per say can win 8 games, however the odds of the Lions doing so are astronomically low. A person who doesn't believe the Lions can win 8 games would actually be someone who does know football, a person who thinks they can win 8 games probably doesn't follow NFL football very closely.
A wise person would also utilize performance of the franchise as a whole, and the performance of the team from the preceding season as very good indicators of how the franchise will perform into the future.

I hope the Lions are better, but at this point in time I wouldn't place any money on it.

Really depends if the Raider's defense shows up. Their offense is a joke. I have a hard time saying one is better than the other. I truely think the Lion's offense will be a lot better than the Raiders. With the moves the Lions have made on defense, we could be a lot better. Rather, we should be a lot better. How much, hard for me to say. How will Foote transition to a 4-3 defense. Will our corners be passable? Will we actually get a pass rush? I'd take the bet the Lions will finish better, but I'd be ready to lose it.

Yeah, we'll suck but we'll still finish better than the Raiders. By the way, is that Jushin Liger in your avatar?

I would be willing to bet the Villagetown Juggalos will be a better team than the Raiders next year.

He's definately in a position for that to come true with the Boys
