Standards and Procedures for Safeguarding Institutional Control of Intercollegiate...
... Athletics.
An 18 page document was passed around B1G presidents today with that title. The document, if passed, would give commish Delany the power to take ''immediate and decisive action'' and to take "any and all actions'' in the best interest of the Big Ten.
The way the media is taking this is that it would give Delany the power to fire head coaches in severe cases. Say the Penn State scandal came out and the trustees were hesitent to do anything. The Big Ten (Delany) could step in and remove Paterno, his staff, and possibly more athletic higher ups from their positions.
What do you think? Yea or Nay?Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's just that yours is stupid.

While I appreciate that it could result in decisive action where an individual university refuses to take any, two words immediately occurred to me...
Slippery. Slope. As God is my witness... I thought turkeys could fly.

Absofreakinglutely not. There may be bad programs in the Big Ten from time to time, but on average, as an M alum, I will take the integrity of the UM administration over the B10 office any day of the week and Sundays too. Maybe there are other schools where this would be plus - but of course those are the ones that will also most oppose it.
