Official Fire CARR Thread!
After today's embarassment we are once again the laughing stock of college football. It all comes back to one man's shoulders, Mr. Carr. He needs to be fired on the spot after his newest example of making Michigan the laughing stock of College Football.
If you agree please vent below.... I am going to the bar now and try to bury my sorrows in the bottle.-I was a Tigers fan before 06'-

-Is Detroit still Hockeytown?

This was a great post.
Face it, folks.
His time has come and gone.
He has no fresh ideas how to run a team. He can't run an offense. His team are often unprepared. He gets outcoached often. His bowl record leaves a lot to be desired. Today was simply embarassing for Carr's standards.
It's one thing to lose to Ohio State last year, but it's another to lose to an 1-AA team.
Say what you want about Oklahoma in the bowl game, but at least they were prepared and they played hard. Boise St played over their heads and somehow got it done. Michigan looked unprepared and that's on Carr."Thank you. My thoughts exactly. I don't even care if it makes me look like sour grapes. Screw them and their fans who are reading this and gloating." -- GoGoCrede on Twins fans.

At least UM still has their nations best public school academics to fall back on.
Because their basketball (scandal) and football programs' reputations have been shot.

Like I posted in the game thread, Arkansas lost 10-3 to D-1AA The Citadel in 1992 and fired their coach the next morning.
Carr deserves to be fired after that display.Avisail Garcia, OF (2013 Adopt - A - Tiger)

Man it would be nice for Kevin Koger to reconsider his verbal to UM and go to Ohio State.
This is not a 3-7 Michigan team...it is an 8-2 team without a QB.

I think Carr should stay. I enjoy watching thousands of UMich wannabes spout fire and venom after he blows his 2+ games each season and gets embarrased in the bowl game.

I am still wondering why go for two in several occasions in this game. With the way Applachian State was playing, you can't take risks like that. You go for the tie and play good Defense which they were starting to do late in the game.

The only thing they could do at this point is put Hermann in as an interim but I would hope they would take a serious look nationwide at the end of the season.

My only question would be how do they get Herrmann away from his commitments with the New York Jets. Would Michigan try to buy out his contract?
Personally if they were going to make a change I would like to see a current or ex-SEC coach get tapped for the position.

I kind of hope Lloyd Carr stays for years. At least till after Jim Tressel owns him one last time this November.
This is not a 3-7 Michigan team...it is an 8-2 team without a QB.

My biggest coaching decision was trying the field goal to put them up four. I thought the logical decision would have been to go for it. Basically, it's risk vs. reward. Go for it, make the first, game over. Go for it, miss it, and take your chances that you can prevent them from scoring.

Carr should not make it through the rest of this day as coach of the Michigan Football team. If Martin doesn't fire him, then Martin should be fired.

What's the point in firing him? To start the Mike DeBord era? Forgive me if I'm less than excited.

Where have the detractors been? Tell me it didn't take this loss to convince people that Lloyd Carr is the most overrated coach in college football.
And like someone asked, what's the point in firing him. Michigan will hire from within anyway, and continue the same philosophy of Bo.
I think today proved, more than anything, that all you have to do to beat Michigan is run a spread offense with a mobile quarterback. They can beat up on the likes of the other Big Ten dinosaurs all they want, but when it comes time to face the likes of USC, Ohio State, etc., they continue to get embarrassed.

I've been a Carr supporter for a long time, and he has helped give Michigan several great seasons, but after today's game I can no longer lend him that support. It's not just this loss though - for too long Michigan has not taken advantage of the talent it has and exploited team weaknesses. UM football on the field is antiquated - gone are the days where UM could simply out-power or out-talent an opponent. A fresh and modern approach is sorely needed from the coaching ranks, and I hope it happens after this season, if not before.

We all know that when Lloyd retires (I think after this year) that Mike DeBord -- or if we are lucky, Ron English -- will be the next coach.
But just for fun, lets dream a little and pretend MI would go outside the box.
How about Mike Martz? That'd be AWESOME!

It is time to absolutley clean house. Think about it since 69, the same group of cronies has been running the Michigan program. I think it is time for a fresh face, fresh philosophy, a new start. The problem is that were only 1 game into the season and Michigan doesn't fire coaches like that, and Michigan won't fire Carr. The worst thing would be to fire Carr, and then let DeBord take over and win 11 straight games and win a BCS Bowl game. Then the string continues at Michigan. Bring in an SEC guy, bring in heck a Pac 10 guy.. heck bring Spurrier up to Michigan.. heck, hire the App State coach.. he is now 1-0 at the "Big House"..but do something at the end of the year to clean house.

I also think you need a flashy, up and coming, coach. I like the idea of Martz, or the Appy coach. Get someone who is hot and has a decent track record. Quit playing the "Michigan man" game with coaching. We are on the verge of becoming irrelevant with the loss today. I can't imagine that recruits that were thinking Michigan yesterday, feel as strongly about it today.
Clean house and bring in someone who will tweak this VERY talented team.
by the way, I think you do it at season's end. Carr has earned this last season. Let him retire at the end of the bowl game (hopefully Rose).

I like that the things that cost them every big game (and today's) are always the same, a sure sign of a great coach is one who is unable to adapt to newfangled shenanigans like Quarterback Draws and Not Playing Terrible Players Over Slightly Better Players.

I'm not advocating English as coach. I'm simply saying between him and DeBord, I'd MUCH rather have English.
But lets be honest, there are two certainties:
1) Lloyd Carr will NEVER be fired. He's a "Michigan Man."
2) The next hire will also be a "Michigan Man" who does things the "Michigan way."

Seriously though. I don't think it's quite hit me that Michigan lost to Appalachian State. Will the Delmon madness ever end? http://www.facebook.com/saynotodelmon

I am on board with him needing to go as well.
Bo always said that at Michigan, the expectation is about winning a Big Ten title. They haven't accomplished that in what 4 or 5 years?
Todays team was more talented than their opponent but they were a lot more arrogant. I am really getting disgusted with Michigan. Someone's head needs to roll after this one, and it starts at the top.But you aren't a man. Men are not supposed to like Streisand movies. Its just not right. - Estrepe1 VT
