Why would anyone want to cut down a beautiful young tree in an urban environment?

To get the bicycle that was chained there.

I've had to cut and remove 3 oaks I planted in the 70's for sound reasons. All bothered me. When I moved here I had 17 pines which gave me the nightly whispers as the breeze activated their song. Lightning and hurricanes have thinned that to about 12 over the years. My neighborhood was called Whisperwood long before I located with the boughs. Since the trio of hurricanes in mid decade, well over a hundred pines are gone as residents feared their liabilities.
