DETROIT (AP) - A. J. Hinch's single in the 5th inning raised his season's batting average to a scorching .207, and he immediately seemed to injure his groin running down the first-base line. He's listed as "day-to-day" after spending the remainder of the game in the clubhouse playing hacky-sack.
Asked after the game about his timetable for returning to the lineup, Hinch grinned broadly and refused to speculate. "I'll tell you this much though", he laughed. "There's only one job in baseball where you can get a big raise for hitting .207, and that's catching for the Detroit Tigers. So I wouldn't rule out the 60-day DL at this point".
