I'm a Canadian..... any individual who searches their conscience... and after much thought... commits themselves to another country is to be commended. However appealing the new country is... I can't imagine it is ever easy to change one's citizenship.

I have always been somewhat overwhelmed and impressed when immigrants do the same thing up here.... Good for you, Placido!!!

Congratulations Mr. Polanco, it is gratifying that despite our litany of problems and issues, that people are not only willing, but in many cases willing to risk their lives, to become citizens of our Country.

It's not that we don't have problems - we do.

Other countries have just as many problems, if not more.

I was a Law Clerk for a Federal judge in 81-82. He handled those ceremonies (we had a surprising number of SE Asia refugees who came over after South Vietnam fell, in addition to people from literally all parts of the world). I had a minor role.

Those ceremonies always brought a tear to my eye. Always.
