Tigers' series in Chicago cut short
Posted by Jason Beck on Thu, 26 Apr 2007 16:30:00 EDT.
Steady rain Thursday afternoon with no signs of letting up until Friday morning forced the postponement of Thursday night's series finale between the Tigers and White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.

Pffft they didn't cancel because of rain. Someone probably took all the Chi-sox fans jelly doughnuts, now the city is in a uproar over it.

Crap. Now I'll have to keep packing tonight...

Worst part:
The side effect of the shift is that Sunday's anticipated rematch between Tigers ace Jeremy Bonderman and Cy Young award Johan Santana isn't going to happen. Maroth will oppose Santana instead

On the bright side - at least I won't have to put up with the Hawk tonight.

Well, with the rainout, maybe the Tigers can skip Bonderman and go ace against ace - Durbin vs. Santana.

that sucks that there is no game, but the Tigers weren't going to beat santana anyway, so that is a good game to get maroth out of the way.

Nights like these are why I paid through the nose for Direct TV's MLB Extra Innings package!
So, now that the Tigers aren't on, maybe I'll look in on the Reds...or the Pirates...or mebbe the Yankees. (I love watching Yankee games, just to root for them to lose).

Couldn't have said it any better, Tyrus, and it's exactly what I'll be doing tonight.

Gee, some of seem to have forgotten we have two other teams playing playoff games on TV tonight. I can live with a rainout (the Bondo sv. Santana thing is bit harder to take, but I' think I'll live). It's just not the "sporgy" I though tonight was going to be.

Did the sox have a cross country flight to catch? It's not raining at all right now. I don't understand the need to postpone so far in advance.

This is exactly what I was hoping wouldn't happen. Sunday is probably the only Tigers game I'll see live this year, and Maroth has been awful.

What an interesting way to make your first post after being registered for 9 months. Welcome.

Yeah, I was going to comment on that. Does this mean that we swept this series :classic: ? We can just pretend that the make up game is actually a one game series later on.

Not officially, but the Sox website is predicting that there will be a double header in the four game series that runs July 23-26.

They better not throw that game at the end of the year when we wrap up our season in Chicago.
