No, fire Leyland 2 weeks ago.
Magglio's hitting, trade him while his value's high.

Only if we get a big lefty 3Bman who can hit for a higher average than his weight, and put Inge back at super sub. Until then, Maggs must stay. What would a game be w/o his butt slide sometimes catch the ball maneuvre?

What's worse is that T. Jones was in REM sleep at the time. Isn't it bad idea to wake someone up from REM sleep?

I'm not sure but I have heard it's dangerous for them to fall before they wake up.

Even with that, I still think my original comment should be chalked up as sarcasm

If Todd Jones isn't in the bullpen and someone else falls, do we still blame it on him?

Are you suggesting that this conversation may not really be happening?

Once, I'd like to see the pitcher slip the ball to the catcher as he sees the manager walking to the mound. That would screw things up seriously. I think an older manager wouldn't know how to handle it since they are such creatures of habit and their mental facilities are diminished. Zoom says 'Skip, you can't take me out, I don't have the ball. Pudge does.' Leyland nods and walks back to the dugout.

His manager was so incensed, that he actually released the guy. I'll have to see if I can locate that ....
EDIT: Here's a page with the story, and a photo of the actual potato, which has been preserved!

I guess the guy couldn't have been too good....he was released and not picked up by anyone. It's a hilarious stunt though.

Maybin.....that's the answer. He can close.....it's just three outs and he can do that in his sleep!

I'm thinking Inge should close. His arm is wasted at third !!!

Inge did close at VCU. And he played short. Then was drafted as a catcher. Then played OF. And now he's at 3B. Inge is a Maybin starter kit.

I posted while Zumaya was sucking last night that he was getting squeezed, big time, by the home plate ump. He threw some pitches that were called strikes earlier in the game. I wonder if Zumaya had done something to piss off that ump in a previous game. He does have a tendency at times to be a bit demonstrative on the mound.

I think it was more likely that it was a long game, cold night, rainy, and Joel didn't have command. I only saw 3 pitches that appeared to be strikes that were called balls. Joel simply was not effective and you could see by his body language that he was getting more and more upset instead of trying to calm himself down to get his job done. I hope the umpire in question will cut him some slack the next time they meet and not hold this past outing/outburst against him.
