I'm doing a final project based on the Whitecaps for my sports promotion class. I was wondering if you guys/girls had any ideas of promotions you'd like to see at the Whitecaps game? If you have any ideas, I'd gladly like some input. Although there is a chance my groups paper could be submitted to Jim Jarecki directly, so if those suggestions do happen, you wave all credibility. (Although you'd help my grade and I'd be appreciative of it. [Also if any monetary funds become available from selling the ideas to the team, I'd gladly share with you of my portion]) Thanks!

scrap the t-shirt cannon and use it for launching hot dogs and nachos into the stands.

They tried shooting hot dogs last season, by using what appeared to be a modified paintball gun. It failed. Horribly. After a few times of trying it out, they scrapped it.
Most of the time it would blast the hotdog to pieces, sending parts of the bun flying into the stands, but usually leaving the dog sticking out of the end of the barrel.
When they did manage to shoot a complete hotdog out unscaved, it would only travel a few feet, and almost never made it into the stands.

I guess the promotion I'd like to see coincides with a promotion they currently do- Turn Back The Clock Night. I like the idea of wearing jerseys styled after older generations, such as the 70s or the 40s, but when doing that, they should also sell food and drinks at prices similar to what you'd pay during those eras. If profit margin is really a big deal, only do that for an inning or two.

honestly....for me....just seeing that would be worth the price of admission.
As for legitimate promotions--anything you could come up with that would involve fan/player interaction is always a plus. Thats one thing I really like about minor league games is that as a fan, you really get more of a sense that you matter to them as an individual fan.
One thing I always wanted to do as a kid at a minor league game would be to go out into the outfield after the game and have some of the players hit fly balls for us to chase down and catch. Then when you're 20 years older, you can brag to your friends about the time you "robbed" Cameron Maybin of a HR at 5/3rd park.

It was quite funny to watch, actually. After scrapping the gun, they went back to the trusty old waterballoon slingshot for sending hotdogs into the stands.

Weren't they wrapped with duct tape?

I'd like to see the Whitecaps wear a jersey similar to the Tigers' jersey only with the olde english "W". They could auction them off after the game for charity.

I don't think duct tape. I always thought/figured the dogs were just wrapped in the same old foil that they were when you bought them from the concession stand. That's what they're in when they slingshot them, at least.

Oh, I remembered another promotion which was great, and I would hope to see again in the future- the Price is Right game they'd do.
Now the game itself wasn't too interesting, someone gets up and tries to guess the price of a Spartan Brand food item, but it was great when the person would win. Everybody in their section won that food item. When crowds were small, everybody in the ballpark got the food item. Being on a college budget, it was always enjoyable to win some free food.
