I believe I've done this the last 2 years....gone through and predicted what kind of numbers I thought each of the Tigers would put up and why. Now that we know Kenny Rogers is out for 3 months, Vance is on the DL, and Campusano is out for the year, nows the best time to do this.

POS---NAME----Runs---HR----RBI----AVG-------------Logic-----------
C.......Pudge-----81----11-----68----.292------Still solid, but declining a bit
1B.....Casey-----40-----8-----41----.263-----Loses his job by June
2B.....Polanco----84----6------56----.312-----Nice comeback year for him
SS....Guillen-----113----17----94----.315-----Slight dip, but still strong
3B.....Inge-------80----23----87-----.271-----Starts trying to hit for AVG
LF.....Monroe----82-----24---86-----.262-----Loses some PT to Thames
CF....Grandy-----122---26----82-----.284----Improves BB/K ratio, power
RF....Ordonez----93----29---114-----.311----More lineup protection = !!!!
DH...Sheffield----106---37---129-----.329----Monster year
UT....Thames-----56---28----79-----.270-----Plays 1B, LF and DH
INF....Perez------21----1-----17-----.268-----Exceeds expectations slightly
UT....Infante-----37----8-----29-----.259-----Continues to perplex
C......Rabelo-----12----2-----8------.189-----Gets no PT until Sept.
C......Wilson------24----7----21-----.278-----Solid backup
1B.....Shelton----36----12---52------.302----May callup, splits 1B w/Thames
INF....Santiago----10----3----9------.247----called up as injury replacement
Offense is pretty well rounded. Disappointments from Infante, Monroe and Casey force Leyland and DD to make some changes, ushering in regular starts for Thames and Shelton by June. Monroe is relegated to 4th OF and is unhappy about it. Casey is either traded or benched. Neifi actually plays well enough for us to not rip on him all year, as does Santiago. Rabelo may not see any action at all until a call up late in the year. Wilson puts up another solid backup season. Big story will be the OF combination of Sheff, Grandy and Ordonez putting up big years. Guillen and Pudge are a touch off what they did last year, but not by much. Inge and Polanco pull it together and are productive as opposing pitchers pitch around the other hitters in the lineup and give Inge and Beldar more pitches to hit. Walks increase, but strikeouts dont decrease by the amount that walks increase. Clevlen, Maybin, Gorkys, and Dlugach get call ups and receive some major league ABs in September, but not many as the division race stays tight all throughout July, August and September.
POS-------NAME---------W-----L-----ERA---------LOGIC
SP------Bonderman------17----10----3.62----Improves on all fronts
SP------Robertson-------12----7-----3.91----Typically keeps us in the game
SP------Verlander--------15----8-----3.84----Decline, but not that much
SP------Maroth----------14----10----4.28----Strong bounce back
SP------Durbin-----------9-----8-----4.39----Solid but unspectacular
SP------Rogers--------------misses all year----------------------------
RP------Ledezma---------7-----3-----2.82----Surprise of pitching staff
RP------Grilli--------------1-----6----6.80----Sent down by June for Miner
RP------Miner-------------3-----3----4.83----Meh, but better than Grilli
RP------Mesa-------------2-----4----4.13----No more than expected
RP------Seay-------------3-----4----3.56----Surprise, but used very little
RP------Rodney-----------2-----5----4.19----A let down year
RP------Zumaya----------5------3----2.02---Ridonkulus
RP------Jones-------------1-----5----3.53---Doesnt make us mad this time
I think Kenny may suffer a setback or two and then call it a career, unfortunately. Jones manages to keep the closer role, but its Zooms in 2008. Rodney struggles with control as bad or worse than last year. Seay and Mesa do what we need them to, but not much more. Grilli and Miner split the season as mopup guys/spot starters and dont impress much, although Miner shows signs of improvement. Ledezma has a nice year for us and earns some starts here and there. We will also see Miller, Tata and Vasquez up in August or later, Miller may get up sooner in case of injury.
And before its stated, yeah the Runs and RBI numbers probably dont add up at all, but its just a rough prediction. And the W-L records arent gonna add up to 162 games, but like I said, just going with a ballpark of what I would roughly expect from them.
