I was looking at the probable pitchers on the main site (they have the first two games up) and putting together info.

No surprise but here it is:

1. Bonderman RHP
2. Robertson LHP
3. Verlander RHP
4. Maroth LHP
5. Durbin RHP

Its not a huge deal early in the season but it is nice to know who is going to pitch what days when planning out which games to go to.

Remember how much I've been bragging on the Tigers rotation? Wasn't hard to do before Rogers went down. Suddenly, it looks much thinner. All we can do is cross the fingers and hope the other guys don't regress from last year, and stay healthy.

We will see if it is true what everybody says how we have so much pitching depth if Durbin can't be a good fill-in. I don't think the rotation looks much thinner at all. It is still one of the top rotations in the MLB without Rogers in there.

I have a feeling that will not be the rotation by the end of April.

Durbin will get two starts before Miner is called up.

I think Durbin may surprise a few people. He won't make the all-star team but I don't think he'll embarass himself either.

If he can just be a Sean Douglass and give them a few good starts before they figure him out, that will be helpful.

I think Durbin is going to suck.

I agree with this fully. I also may be among few who didn't necessarily expect Rogers to come out great guns this season either. I didn't think he would suck, but I didn't expect the season we got last year. I think his loss hurts more in the innings that he would/could provide than anything. The Tigers certainly have a lower margin of error but I think they can work through this, and I think Durbin will be alright.

Thats about as much as I hope for right now. He just needs to hold his own to be honest.....

Derby will be fine and he is the best option right now while rogers is out.

Isn't Douglass now in Japan pitching?

Based on ST results, Maroth may be more of a question mark than Durbin.

I also wonder, at age 42, if Kenny Rogers can bounce back from his surgery in time to help the team. I don't mean to be too much of a pessimist, but I've got my fingers crossed.

That is why you don't base things on ST stats.

This is an opportunity for a few Tiger prospects. If they tear up the minor leagues for a few starts and Durbin sucks, you can bet Leyland will not hesitate to call them up.

I don't think Miller will be called up any time soon, though, until he shows he can dominate at least at the AA level. But, boy, what if he did and got called up and pitched well in the majors too? "Andrew Miller: 2007 Rookie of the Year." Wouldn't that be something? It's what every Tiger fan is dreaming for, although it's not likely to happen...is it?

That was my line of thinking until I read this quote:

"We really only talked about two options, basically," Leyland said. "Those were [Andrew] Miller or Durbin. We decided to stay on our course with that. We checked with the Minor League people. Miller's throwing good. He's also working on some things, so we think that we want him to get some starts there under his belt. Durbin had a great year in Triple-A last year."

If Durbin struggles and Miller does well early... I think Leyland is going to really push to have Miller.

FWIW, Brandon Morrow drafted one spot ahead of Miller has made the Mariners bullpen and will start the year in the show.

I think Durbin will do fine....especially if he ends up being matched up against other #5s a lot early in the year. He might get some decent offensive support to keep us in the game.

I'm expecting an ERA between 4.60 and 5.20 from Durbin

I think Durbin is going to suck.

That's my thought, too. He's basically an older Miner. I wouldn't be surprised to see Miller in the rotation come mid-May.

I think Durbin is going to fill in decently, with an ERA of around 4.20
At least that's what my dartboard is showing!
