Obviously, Vasquez is not a position player. I will try to update as ST progresses.
UPDATE: I moved Vasquez to the pitchers column.

Boehringer is no longer in the organization....Kunkel and Dolsi are only there for protection reasons during the Rule V minor league phase, and won't be there when the season starts.

As I said, preliminary. They did add Eischen over the winter. I also want to use the thread to update assignments to the various teams during the balance of ST. I deleted Boeringer.

Woh, Kunkel moved through the system fast, yet Holliman is stuck at a snail's pace.

Why should Kunkel need protection, and protection from what? 2006 was his first year of pro ball, I thought you needed to have 3 years of service time before you were eligible for the Rule V draft.

Kunkel finished the year in Toledo when they needed a warm body to play catcher after Rabelo was called up.

You do....but if they had to protect someone from the minor league phase by placing them on the West Michigan roster, they likely just moved him to the Toledo roster because there was room.

I can almost guarantee you he won't be in Toledo this year....I would absolutely guarantee it, but I haven't asked the question, because its not a legitamately reasonable assignment.

I'm surprised they felt the need to protect Dolsi. What don't I know about him?

Mudhens.com has updated their roster. It looks like a pretty good preliminary roster (but only 23 names). The only notable omission it appears is Timo Perez, but I'm pretty sure that's where he's headed unless he can refuse it.

Its very possible Timo had it written into his contract that he could refuse an assignment.

I can't remember if Toledo can go north with 24 or 25, I thought with the new labor agreement they could have 25 all year now. But that's dependent on how good my memory is.

Odd to see only three listed outfielders given Leyland's hope of having Raburn used at second and third in addition to the outfield. I suppose Maples has seen a little time out there in the past.

Well, they obviously have to add at least one outfielder to this list.

This isn't the official list until it's official!

How did Yogi get in here!

I am not sure where he ended up being assigned. The last two weeks and this past weekend, he was with the AAA team only, including when Timo was playing with them as well.

Anything follow up on the Timo question, that is very interesting.........If he refused assignment, would that mean he'd get his release and be free to negotiate with the team of his choice for a better/different deal?

Blue was with the Whitecaps today, but I'm sure this means nothing.

I now hear that Blue will be in EST to begin with?

Guess showing up for ST and being severly overweight has its penalties?

What about the Timo question, I still don't understand if HE can refuse assignment and if so, does this mean he would then be released?

Trying to learn.........thanks!

His backside looked as big as the front as well.

I'd guess more than anything, if this is true, it sends a message to players who have done fairly well in the organization that you MUST show up prepared, in shape and ready to compete for a job in ST or after having moved up in the organization, if you don't take care and prepare yourself, we don't have a need for you. Does anyone else think this could be a message being sent by Ezell and Co.?

He really can't because he wasn't on the 40-man roster... BUT... there may be some language in his contract that would enable him to be released if he wanted. I don't think it's the case though.

I was just trying to speculate if there would be any reason that Timo wouldn't be on the Toledo roster. The roster at Mudhens.com is not official yet. I believe that he will be the 24th name on the roster.

I was just speculating could there be any reason that he would be sent to minor league camp and then not be on the most obvious roster for him which is Toledo. The only thing I could think of was if he could refuse a minor league assignment, which most people believe could only happen if he had it written into the contract he signed with the Tigers. It will prove to be nothing and when the official announcement is made, he will be on the roster, I'm sure.

He didn't look to be overly disgruntled by his play this past weekend. In watching the AAA games, it's obvious that Shelton is not pleased with his playing AAA, but, with Santiago, Timo, Clevlen and Rayburn, their play on the field, their disposition/demeanor in the dugout, etc., shows that they understand this game is about competing for a roster spot and competing to move up even if you may not be 100% satisfied with where you are at present. However, Shelton looks to be mooping around quite a bit from my observations. Based on the energy level I saw in Timo this past weekend, I'd find it hard to believe he'd not accept the situation as a challenge to get better and hope something changes his way, but, I don't know any of these players personally, only what I see and evaluate by their play, demeanor and attitudes on the field and in the dugout.

Maybe others know/see differently.....
