SABR is trying to complete an ambitious baseball research tool. A short bio of every player in MLB history as well as bios on other persons who contributed to this great sport.

From reading all of your posts, most of you possess the talent to put together a bio. Usually they are 4-8 pages. Ty Cobb's bio will be longer than Purnal Goldy's.

If you are interested, you don't have to be a member of SABR, please send me a PM and I will put you in touch with the guy in charge. He is a Red Sox fan but a good guy at heart with much respect for the Detroit franchise.

So true!

A good deal of the "deadball" players have been done already as part of the AL Deadball book.

Also, if you're not sure (aside from the deadball guys) who has been done already, head to the BIO Project website:

Check on a player you are interested in and it will either have the bio already, mention that it is being written by someone already, or that no one is assigned to it.

For instance, Jim Northrup was recently completed (http://bioproj.sabr.org/bioproj.cfm?a=v&v=l&bid=1583&pid=10478)

That's a pretty intresting concept. For awhile back I was keeping a notebook on Tiger players that I read stuff about in a book or read or whatever, but I never got too far with that.

This looks like it's going a bit deeper than the ballplayers site which was a site I used fairly often. I may tangle into this a bit.

I would encourage you to explore the possibility!
