Not the Tigers but History

I am hoping for some input. This is not the Tigers but my grandfather was a Tiger fan so maybe it's okay if I slide this in here!
These pics are about 100 years old. The player second from the right is my grandfather. He belonged to one of the many teams the Army had. The caption written at the bottom of the game photo says "Ballgame Fort Ben-Harrison Ind. P.U. and Soldiers" He was a soldier, career army. Does anyone have a clue what P.U. could have stood for?

Fort Benjamin Harrison was near Indianapolis.........read up on it at Wikipedia.
I'm guessing the P.U. stands for Purdue University. Maybe the soldiers were playing a exibition game that day?
