For the first time since 1999, the World Series will feature a pair of managers who have each been here before and won. But will familiarity with their surroundings help Tony La Russa and Jim Leyland produce a true classic?

The St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers are ready to settle the season in the World Series, squaring off in a battle that looked unlikely when the regular season ended. After leading the AL Central almost the entire way, the Tigers fell out of first on the final day of the regular season thanks to a second-half slump. The Cardinals condenses their slump to the season's final weeks, narrowly avoiding one of the biggest collapses in the history of the game. But the Tigers vanquished the Yankees and A's with relative ease in the first two rounds, while the Cardinals dispatched the Padres and survived the Mets to join them on the grandest stage.

So what happens next, SportsNation? Have you developed a rooting interest during the postseason? Where does each team have an edge? Which team will win, and how long with it take? Vote on the World Series!

An argument can be made that the Cards pitchers are red-hot right now. But talent-wise there's no contest.

Wouldn't Magglio Ordenez have been a better option for our team, being Pudge has already won a world series ring ?

Yes, but as you know, only a small percentage of fans would know who Magglio Ordonez is. ESPN thinks we're all stupid and only know the "star" players. They aren't interested in production as much as names.

Actually, Kenny Rogers would have been a good choice too, given that he is 87 years old and has never won a World Series

I disagree with this. I understand your point on ESPN, but people know who Magglio Ordenez is .. it's everyone else that people have no clue on.

True -- anyone but Pudge, really, who again, is just a weird choice being he has already won a ring, not too long ago.

He didn't really contribute that much to the Yankees actually winning the title but he was on the staff and did pitch in at least one game.
