I'm a bit surprised that no one has yet feasted on this item from Danny Knobler's column today:

"Palmer's work in the instructional league left the Tigers unconvinced of whether he'll be able to play third base next year. "It went well, but he was still only at the point of playing five innings, and only every other day," Dombrowski said. "You can't count on him." In an effort to expand their options, the Tigers are having Munson play third base in the Puerto Rican winter league."

Have at it folks.

Maybe the lack of interest in this is because we all already knew this...I mean, was anyone really counting on Palmer making a contribution this year? If he had any integrity, he would either retire or opt out of his contract. To be paid $21+ million to play around 40 games is embarrassing.

The Tigers have wasted enough time depending on Palmer to make his grand comback that never happens. Let's move on to reality. Let's get a "real" third baseman.

Apparently, some people still believe he will come back. But even if he does, it's not like he is the 3B of the future. The most that could happen is he has a good comeback season and we trade him at the deadline. Don't expect him to though. Anyone who thinks he will be playing 3B for the Tigers ever again may be expecting too much.

He sucks when he's healthy. HE strikes out 150 times a year and is a below average fielder. Then we try to make plans and put guys in roles and he screws that up, too.

Unconditional release!!!

Who's Palmer?

Is he the guy we traded Ausmus for the second time?

;) (please newbies, notice the winking thing so you realize that I was joking about the Meluski dude and the Palmer dude like I was thinking about the wrong one because they both have been non-factors with this team for such a long time now that they aren't worth talking about anymore.)
