The other thread about Tiger songs got me thinking. What song would everyone consider thier choice for the 2006 Tigers theme song?

Mine would be:

Running Down A Dream- Tom Petty

"What's New Pussycat?" -- for absolutely no other reason than hearing it after a victory on the stadium loudspeakers

Anyone here hear "We just won't be defeated" by the Go! Team?

or "Breakaway" by the Detroit Cobras?

Not just because of the names, but mostly. They also have a great fun beat!

I'm sorry, but that song makes me feel like running into a wall. And, I like some Tom Petty songs. It's so mundane, unoriginal and droning. We can do better.

"With a Little Help from Leyland"

(with apologies to the Beatles)

What would you do if we played out the string after Farnsworth was traded away/

You twisted our ears back in April when we phoned it in to the Angels that day

Oh, we get by with a little help from Leyland/Get high with a little help from Leyland/Gonna try with a little help from Leyland

Do you need Marlboros/when umpires squeeze the strike zone
Does your white moustache curl/whenever you call Todd Jones

Would you believe Jim could win us a ring?/Just as long as Pudge is happy this time/

How do you know Pudge'll keep playin' hard/I've seen his new squeeze and she sure is fine

Oh, we get by with a little help from Leyland/Get high with a little help from Leyland/Gonna try with a little help from Leyland

I was at the show that Jack beat the guy up. Couldn't tell what was going on at the time though as it happened in the middle of the crowd/audience.

I never pictured Jack White as the kind of dude that would open a can of whoop ***.

Someone needs to mention the obligatory "Eye Of the Tiger" by Survivor if for no other reason than to get it out of the way.

Consider it done.

How about Santana "Winning"?

One day I was on the ground
When I needed a hand
And it couldnt be found
I was so far down
That I couldnt get up
You know and
One day I was one of lifes losers
Even my friends were my ac-cus-ers
And in my head
Lost before Id begun

I had a dream
But it turned to dust
What I thought was love
That must have been lust
I was living in style
When the walls fell in
When I played my hand
I looked like a joker
Turn around
Fate must have woke her
cause lady luck she was
Waiting outside the door

Chorus:

Im winning
Im winning
Im winning
And I dont intend on losing again

Too bad it belonged to me
It was the wrong time
And I meant to be
It took a long time
And I knew for now
I can see the day
That I breath for
Friends agree theres a need
To play the game
And to win again

Well, you COULD right click it, and "save as" to your hard-drive in the location of your choosing.

Here are my candidates:

"It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll" -AC DC

"Centerfield" - John Fogerty (tribute to Granderson's awsome year)

"When the Tigers Broke Free" - Pink Floyd (ok, so what if it's about German Tiger Tanks overrunning and slaughtering an English rifle platoon during WWII - the title is cool)

"Smokin' in the Boy's Room" - Motley Crue (Jim Leyland tribute)

When you open Windows Media Player, if you click on file, Open URL, then just paste the URL of the sight into there, the song will play, and you can go to file, save-as, and save the song to your hard drive.

I can't stop listening to this song. Just turned friend on to it as well. This song needs to get airtime somehow.

Anyone in the radio business on this board?

I think a perfect song for the Tigers this year is Amazing by Aerosmith. The lyrics of the first verse are perfect for our 2005 struggles and the overall subject matter of the lyrics (especially in the chourus) are perfect for us this year (finally succeeding against all odds, after a big struggle). The tempo is also perfect for a victory celebration. But most importantly, make sure you read the lyrics.

Aerosmith - Amazing

I kept the right ones out
And let the wrong ones in
Had an angel of mercy to see me through all my sins
There were times in my life
When I was goin' insane
Tryin' to walk through
The pain
When I lost my grip
And I hit the floor
Yeah, I thought I could leave but couldn't get out the door
I was so sick and tired
Of a livin' a lie
I was wishin' that I
Would die

It's Amazing
With the blink of an eye you finally see the light
It's Amazing
When the moment arrives that you know you'll be alright
It's Amazing
And I'm sayin' a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight

That one last shot's a Permanent Vacation
And how high can you fly with broken wings?
Life's a journey not a destination
And I just can't tell just what tomorrow brings

You have to learn to crawl
Before you learn to walk
But I just couldn't liten to all that righteous talk
I was out on the street,
Just a tryin' to survive

It's Amazing
With the blink of an eye you finally see the light
It's Amazing
When the moment arrives that you know you'll be alright
It's Amazing
And I'm sayin' a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight

(And a phenominal Joe Perry guitar solo as the grand finale to the song)

Awesome song from the Get A Grip album, the last good album Aerosmith recorded.
